Learning looks a little different in our classrooms—and that’s a great thing! ✨

“Sometimes the best learning happens when we’re given the freedom to find the space where we feel most comfortable.”

In 4th grade, students had fun completing a paper chain activity with our student teacher, giving students another opportunity to collaborate, communicate, and learn together!

In 5th grade, students had the opportunity to use flexible seating and choose a workspace that worked best for them. Whether sitting at a table, moving to another area of the room, or finding a cozy spot, students demonstrated that they can make responsible choices while staying focused and engaged.

We love seeing our students take ownership of their learning while showing responsibility, independence, and teamwork!

Ms. Zaleski’s 4th graders tried center rotations on Friday, and they went AMAZING! The students were engaged, collaborative, and excited to learn.

Using tiles, the students created area models to explore multiplication and find factor pairs. 🧩📐 It was a fun, hands-on way to strengthen their math skills!

Great job, 4th grade! Keep up the fantastic work, mathematicians!

Learning is happening everywhere at Barack Obama Elementary School!

Mrs. Acino and Mrs. Llama are hard at work running CKLA groups, helping students strengthen their reading skills through engaging, small-group instruction.

In Mrs. Hunt’s classroom, students put their math skills to work by building their own prisms! They then exchanged prisms with a classmate and used measurements to figure out their partner’s prism volume.

Hands-on learning, collaboration, and lots of thinking—what a great day of learning!

Welcome Back to School!!!

We’re off to a fantastic start with lots of hands-on learning, creativity, and problem-solving!

5th Grade Math: Students are building rectangular prisms using given length, width, and height measurements and then finding the volume of each prism.

4th Grade Science: Students took on the Tallest Pipe Cleaner Challenge! They used creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills to design and build the tallest structure they could.

What a great way to start the school year—learning, building, creating, and having fun! 💙✨
