The final week of Summer Lit Lab focused on creatures and the unique adaptations that help them survive in their environments. Students put their critical thinking and communication skills to the test while playing Guess in 10, a game that challenged them to ask strategic questions and practice communication skills . They also had the opportunity to design and build their own animals using boxes and a variety of craft materials, applying their understanding of animal features and adaptations in a creative way.

A special thank you to the Lenawee ISD for their guidance and organization in developing this engaging and enriching curriculum.

The past two weeks of Summer Lit Labs have been filled with engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

During Space Week, students designed and built their own spaceships while exploring space-themed foods, including freeze-dried ice cream, candy, and fruit.

Movement Week focused on the concept of force, giving students opportunities to investigate pushes and pulls through the creation of marble runs and magnetic mazes. Students used magnets to guide paper clips through their designs, putting their problem-solving skills and creativity to work!

The first two weeks of the Summer Lit Lab Pop-Ups were a great success!

During the first week, students explored the theme of chocolate. They learned about Milton Hershey, practiced graphing skills using candy, and applied their creativity and problem-solving abilities by designing and constructing their own chocolate factories.

The second week focused on whirligigs and the work of Vollis Simpson. Students listened to a story about his unique wind-powered creations, participated in an engineering challenge to build the tallest structure, and designed and constructed their own pinwheels.
