Matteo's & Minka, therapy dogs of the Clarendon County Sheriff's Office, were honored to provide comfort and support today at the 29th Annual Silent Witness Ceremony. Hosted on the steps of the South Carolina State House by the Attorney General’s Office, this powerful event brought families together from across the state to honor the 30 women and 10 men who tragically lost their lives to domestic violence in 2025. Red and blue silhouettes represented each victim, and a 41st purple silhouette represented the unknown victims.
Domestic violence remains one of South Carolina's most critical public health and criminal concerns. Events like these are vital for breaking the silence, bringing awareness, and remembering those we have lost. While the families carried the heavy weight of grief today, our pups were there to offer a gentle presence, a soft ear to lean on, and unconditional love to anyone needing a moment of healing. 💜
