In a recent interview with whose core value is “Honesty” she pointed to a quote “Honesty without tact is just cruelty.” Apparently the attribution goes to Kristin Bell’s therapist. Immediately the the pic of tarot card 3 of Swords flashed in my mind. Swords in tarot is all about mental clarity, communication, how words are used and how they can sometimes pierce your heart and break it. Remember the sword in tarot is double-edged…can be creative (cutting away unnecessary or destructive…bluntness can lead to hurt feelings. Choose your words carefully…more on this in an upcoming blog post.

Reading a very good book! Thank you !

This morning when I was pulling the weekly tarot card, 3 cards fell out in this order so I chose to provide a 3-card reading for the week.

Perhaps like the wealthy merchant standing with the 3 wands on the cliff, you have plans in motion and are waiting for your “ships to come in.” Although the ships are small and in the distance, the horizon is illuminated and there is hope in the air.

Contrary to the figure who has just awakened from a nightmare. It’s as if the 9 swords hanging in the black night have pierced his mind with dark thoughts. Perhaps you have doubts and fears that invade the optimism. These negative thoughts do not protect you from success or failure. In fact they block the manifestation at hand. Your mind can really play tricks on you. Best to intervene on yourself, break old patterns that no longer contribute and like the figure in bed look to the pretty flowers on the coverlet. There is hope in the air. See those and not the hanging swords.

How will you do this? The King of Swords comes in with his particular blend of mental clarity and intuition. You can be discerning and hopeful at the same time. There he sits with an earnest expression on a throne adorned with crescent moons and butterfly carvings. He welcomes the evolution of dreams to manifestations. You should too.

A warrior stands in his chariot. His suit of armor has crescent moons and astrological symbols, his helmet is adorned with a star and victory wreath. The canopy of his chariot displays stars embroidered in the midnight blue of the heavens.

This charioteer is forward-moving with so much willpower he does not need reins to guide the black and white sphinxes into action.

When your will is aligned to your soul purpose and duality is integrated into your consciousness you can move mountains. In this period when Mercury is in Retrograde and it seems that things are moving backwards try to connect to your inner guidance for strength and purpose. You’ve got the power! Use it well.

The Moon Card is all about the reveal. It is nighttime and the full moon is reflected in the light of the sun which sheds it’s rays on the wildlife below. A dog and wolf bark at the moon. A crayfish emerges from the waters.

What is to be revealed? Our civil and wild natures as seen in the dog and wolf respectively seek recognition and understanding. It’s as if they are barking, “See me, hear me, feel me” to the golden silvery light above. The crayfish whose thick shell serves as protection from the elements decides to leave its watery home to walk the perilous path on land. It takes courage to face the unknown but the time is right.

Are we to follow suit and face our fears and illusions? Do we have the courage to look into our shadow self, our defenses, whatever is hidden deep within our subconscious. Let what needs to be revealed rise to the surface. Pay attention to dreams and the keys they hold, the messages from our meditations. Seek integration of light and dark as the moon and sun is reflected in our true nature.

Are you like this handsome dandy? All dressed up and no place to go? Although his clothing matches the colors of the arid backdrop, his demeanor seems out of place in this dry desert. Clearly he has other ideas as he gazes at the green leaves sprouting from his walking stick. His cloak of salamanders belies an adventurous spirit lusting for change. He will make the most of what’s ahead of him.

You should too! Now’s the time to move forward on inspirations, ideas, passions. You are meant to seek your fortune with a happy and confident heart.

Tens in Tarot signify completion. In this card we see a fellow carrying ten wands. His head is bent and he is hard at work. He is so in earnest that we doubt he sees the beautiful house in the distance which we presume is his destination. Perseverance and patience is his modus operandi. Sure it gets the job done but because we don’t see his face there is a feeling of burden and effort that supersedes any hint of celebration. Perhaps the message here is to learn for next time how to delegate responsibilities so one can enjoy the journey along the way. Good advice for anyone before starting the next passion play.

Are you lucky? Do you feel in control of your life? Or do you see yourself as a victim of circumstance, wondering how to change the course of your life? From a distance this Wheel of Fortune looks like a bright orange sun in a blue sky where puffy clouds serve as bedding for winged creatures who like to read books. Those four winged creatures represent the fixed signs of the Zodiac (Angel/Aquarius, Eagle/Scorpio, Lion/Leo, Bull/Ta**us) and are presumably reading the Torah, the Book of Knowledge. Sure, there are some odd figures too–a snake who apparently represents Typhon, the Egyptian God of the Evil, Anubis, the Egyptian God of the Dead and a Sphinx up top symbolizing knowledge and strength. On the Wheel itself are Hebrew Letters for God and TORA (Torah?) plus a few alchemical symbols. What’s it all mean and what’s it got to do with you and this week? The Wheel of Fortune is always turning and in the midst of change there are always angels with knowledge to keep you grounded and help you adapt, expand and grow. Cosmic consciousness will serve up answers if one is open to receiving them. Be steady, be ready, and know that what goes around comes around, so be kind and loving.

There he sits, the King of Pentacles, on his throne adorned with carved bulls (he most definitely is a Ta**us) and surrounded by the vines of his vineyard, the grapes of which are displayed so magnificently in his luxurious robe. This king is all about material success resulting from a disciplined approach of tried and true stratagems for building and maintaining wealth. He is smart and generous and will share his wealth and advice with those who ask. Are you a business owner? Do you know how to attract wealth and enjoy material success? If so then share it with others. There’s nothing wrong in enjoying the good life, especially if you have the gift of making things grow.

Are you feeling disappointed? Let down by a relationship, job, career, life in general? Is there a feeling of malaise due to expectations not being met? Enter the Eight of Cups. The arrangement of golden cups in the foreground with one missing indicates that with all this abundance something is lacking. It is nighttime. A golden moon shines down on a man forsaking his worldly life to journey into the wilderness. He is searching for something more…what will it be? Is this a spiritual journey where he discovers that his happiness comes from within and is not dependent on the fixtures of the external world? Will he return with the knowledge that he is the missing cup? And are we to learn once and for all to do away with expectations as they do not speak to our existence in the now which is where true happiness abides.
