To know Arnold is to trace a journey from the heart of Moscow's theater scene to New York's bustling and eclectic artscape.

A graduate of the illustrious GITIS (State Academy for Theatrical Arts) in Moscow in 1981, Arnold had the privilege of learning under the wings of theatrical maestros like A. Goncharov and M. O. Knebel. Even as a budding talent during his student years, he made waves at the esteemed Moscow Academic Theater named after Vl. Mayakovsky. One could already sense a star in the making.

It wasn't long after that Arnold took his prodigious talents to the Latvian State Youth Theater in Riga. Here, he wasn't just another theater professional; he was a sensation, as demonstrated by his accolades at the Latvian Reading Contest. But Moscow beckoned again. Arnold's thirst for knowledge and mastery in his craft led him back to GITIS in 1984 to attain a director's degree. This phase saw him collaborate with the revered Moscow Drama Theater named after N.V. Gogol. Their joint ventures produced masterpieces such as "Pannochka," "Somewhere Far Beyond the Hills," "A Suit for a Summer Hotel," and the evocative "Long Day's Journey into Night."

1995 was a year of transformation for Arnold. Crossing the vast expanse between Moscow and New York, he made a splash in the U.S. theater scene. Directing profound productions like "Uncle Vanya" at the 78th Street Theatre Lab and Stravinsky's opera "Mavra" at Merkin Hall, Lincoln Center, Arnold introduced Russian theatrical brilliance to an American audience. Not just content with directing, he took on the mantle of mentorship at the JCC In Manhattan, shaping the next generation of artists.
