Meet our next First-Gen Success Story: Roberto Maldonado Flores

Originally from Wichita, KS, Roberto is currently a senior in Human Health Biology. He was honored as one of the recipients of the 2026 Dean of Students Outstanding Graduating Senior Award. This award is given to seniors who have made outstanding contributions to student life during their K-State career. Roberto was inducted into Tri-Alpha in 2023 and has served on the Tri-Alpha board for multiple years, including his current role as Treasurer.

Meet our next First-Gen Success Story: Viv Nguyen

Originally from Dodge City, KS, Viv is currently a sophomore in Mechanical Engineering and Physics. She was honored as a 2026 Goldwater Scholar, an award for undergraduates in their sophomore or junior year, pursuing a research career in mathematics, natural sciences, or engineering. These scholars are recognized for exceptional academic performance and research experience, preparing them to be future research leaders in STEM fields. Viv was inducted into Tri-Alpha this past Fall.
