I hear you. you wanted it to work, and it did for a little while. ⠀

Here's what happened: YOU GOT CLICK-BAITED. someone showed you that you can have aMaZiNg results QUICKLY with relatively little work using a cleanse or pills or teas or shakes or whatever. so you bought it, you did it, and you did it PERFECT.⠀

it probably had you drinking a LOT of water and operating in a large calorie deficit SO YOU LOST WEIGHT.⠀
⠀
but you KNEW there was an end period. you only had to drink the juices for 3 days! or follow the meal plan for 1 week! or use one month supply of the tea! because you knew it would END you were okay making sacrifices. you were okay pushing yourself harder than felt good. you went ALL OUT.⠀

FUN FACT: the all or nothing mentality rarely gets you all and usually gets you nothing. ⠀

You didn't learn SKILLS, you didn't build a HABIT, you just did what they told you to do for a week and you lost weight. ⠀
⠀
and then you went back. and maybe you compensated a little bit for the things you missed out on. OR maybe you didn't even do that, you went back to your normal. and... eventually, the weight came back. ⠀

It's not because of YOU. its not that you didn't have the will power, its not that you weren't dedicated enough, its not that you couldn't be consistent. It's the fact that QUICK FIX CLICK BAIT doesn't teach you sustainable skills. clear and simple.⠀

I have this vision, I can see it super clearly: it’s five years from now and you’re out to dinner at a new restaurant with a group of your girlfriends that you haven’t seen in like FOREVER. The menu feels smooth and matte in your hands and the description of their speciality pizza makes your mouth water. You place the menu on the table (because LOOK NO FURTHER, you’re OBVIOUSLY going to have to get that) and you ask everyone else what they’re getting. The girls around the table start buzzing with excitement over their orders. You notice that one of your friends is staring down at the table and she sighs before mentioning that she’s dieting right now so she’s “just going to order a salad.”
Honestly, it sort of startles you. You see, you’ve been working on your relationship with food for a while. You’ve been putting in the work to build the skills so that you feel confident in your choices. Your body is the strongest it’s ever been, your mindset is on point, AND your tastebuds are happy, VERY happy. You haven’t been on a diet in, literally, years and you sort of forgot that other people don’t feel that freedom you have to... just eat. The conversation shifts and the night seems to fly by, before you know it you’ve paid and are walking out of the restaurant. After everyone hugs and says goodbye you make an effort to link arms with your dieting friend. “Hey,” you squeeze her arm, “if your diet is working for you that’s amazing… but it seemed like you weren’t super pumped about ordering your salad. In case you maybe don’t LOVE dieting, I wanted to let you know there’s a different way…”
That’s a picture you want to see isn’t it? You want that personal FREEDOM and you want to be a WORLD CHANGER. I’m here to tell you that you CAN. You can have that FREEDOM and you can CHANGE THE WORLD.

The Just Eating course is as much (if not more) about Mindset as it is Nutrition and what that means for you is you will develop a positive relationship with food and really, you will ENJOY the process.

IM NOT SPECIAL. i eat pizza and i drink wine because i like them. i also don’t eat any other cheese, mushrooms, or eggs... because i don’t like them. i eat what i like and try to be a little better every day. today that’s going to look like trying to eat 5 cups of veggies throughout the day and then having a marg and burrito after our group discussion tonight because 🌮🌯🍹
what i offer isn’t a quick fix and it doesn’t promise overnight results. it isn’t a challenge or a meal plan or a workout program.
i teach you how to figure out what works FOR YOU. it’s a framework to build dynamic skills and what that means for you is you can understand yourself and really you can build a positive relationship with food. and having a positive relationship with food is really what you want isn’t it?

(which is a good thing because it means you CARE and you're PASSIONATE about improving your health.)

I'm going into my office today and i'd be lying if i told you i wasn't anxious about it. i'm not comfortable taking public transportation so i'm walking an hour there and an hour back. ⠀

i'm not *sCaReD* i just feel really exposed going into midtown? NYC has been in lockdown for so long and truthfully i don't want people to see me and think i'm not following the rules. i'm a type one enneagram and rule following is my jam. but also, i haven't left the upper east side in weeks so i have no idea what midtown is going to be like. I assume empty and quiet which is just freaky for NYC. ⠀

me being anxious is OKAY. if you're feeling scared that's OKAY. if you're itching to GET BACK TO NORMAL that's OKAY. we just need to give each other a little grace. a little bit of space to breathe and process things how we need to. we're all different and we all process things and deal with things differently. ⠀

so i guess this is just a daily reminder to advocate for what you need and want and don't let anyone tell you how you feel is wrong.
