I hope to wave to many of you at MIS on Sunday as we hand out the test packs!
Sunday, January 2nd, Free Test Kit Pickup: The district will be offering free at-home Covid tests to current district students and staff only, to be picked up on Sunday, January 2nd at Miraleste Intermediate School (29323 Palos Verdes Dr. E. Rancho Palos Verdes) from 9am to 1pm.There is a limited supply, and the kits will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis.
Families may schedule their own COVID testing at a variety of local medical providers including CVS, Walgreens, local urgent care facilities and pharmacies, and your personal health care provider. At 449 Silver Spur Road, a drive through free PCR testing option is available Jan. 2 10-3, with results available 24-48 hours (may not work for families planning to return in person on Monday).
Another resource is https://covid19.lacounty.gov/testing/.
At-home COVID tests are also available at local pharmacies and online.
Families can order free tests from the county as well at covid19.lacounty.gov/hometest. These county test kits require swab collection to be mailed back for PCR test results, which may take a few days; thus they will work for future weeks but not for January 3.
PVPUSD in-person testing sites will remain open through June 2022. Visit the district website for days and hours of operation and locations.

Jumping out of retirement for a new term of 14 months.
I was appointed by the board of education to serve out the remainder of Megan Crawford's term, which ends with an election in Nov. '22. Ms. Crawford resigned the position because she moved out of the area. The next opportunity for an election to fill this seat would have been April '22 at a cost of $900,000. As always, I will do my best to represent our community with my focus on our students and staff. There are no do-overs in education.
For anyone interested in running in the Nov. '22 election, I am happy to provide my insight.
