I am restoring the Bicentennial Park in the front of Manchester Memorial High School. Click here for the full details.Donate at GoFundMe.com
This park was a gift from the class of 1976. Time has taken its toll on the appearance of this park, and I would like to restore it to original state. The stones and the slabs are overgrown with weeds, covered with dirt, and no longer level. The shrubs which were probably an appropriate size in 1976 are now overgrown and hide the stately granite bench and most of the park. I will be resetting the
stones, replacing the shrubs and adding two benches to the sides of the park. The second part of my project will be to clean up the Crusader sign located on the Weston Road side of the school. The trees on the side of the sign are overgrown and overpower the sign. This is such a great sign, but I feel that in its current condition it is not noticeable nor a good representation of our school’s Crusader pride. I will trim/prune or replace the trees, weed and thin out the ground cover and add retaining wall stones along the front to frame in the sign area. My overall goal will be to improve these areas to stand the test of time and not require regular maintenance. Project Material List
Stone Dust
Two prefabricated backless benches (concrete or granite) or bench bases
Composite wood if benches are to be constructed from prefab bench bases
Screws
Nails
Adhesive
Weed barrier
Plants
Mulch
Retaining wall blocks and caps
