Read about why anisha wants to be a PT: “I want to work in geriatrics and special populations because I fell in love with working with the older populations and those who have more complex systemic diagnoses. I loved seeing the older population regain their function post surgery or helping them working towards new goals like running a 5k. Special populations is a newer field to me that I became interested in after my own struggles with chronic illnesses. I think it’s really interesting to be able to treat a more systemic whole body issue and work to improve a persons quality of life!“

First Why PT Wednesday of 4th term from : “I chose to go into PT as I grew up in a clinic from a young age due to multiple previous injuries and surgeries. The clinic became my home away from home. Then working as an aide in an outpatient setting before coming to school solidified why I wanted to become a PT and helped me fall in love with the profession, through the connections I got to make with patients and helping them achieve their goals!”

Pausing our finals week for a Why PT Wednesday from ! - “I am especially interested in working with patients with Parkinson’s disease because rehabilitation can make a meaningful difference in their mobility, confidence, and overall quality of life. I also want to work with the geriatric population because I value building meaningful relationships and supporting older adults in maintaining their independence and daily function.”

Why PT Wednesday from .sd “I have worked in a retirement home from an early age and came to realize how much I like the geriatric population. Filled with wisdom and knowledge, I would like to help some of the most vulnerable people in life understand and do what it takes to enjoy their day to day better. I also had always been an athlete and competitor striving for better performance and having to deal with an injury and its effect on my play. I want to be able to help others avoid injury and or get back to peak performance.”

Why PT Wednesday from “I knew I wanted to become a physical therapist when I was a patient in PT myself, rehabbing my elbow during baseball season. Going through the rehab process firsthand showed me how much of an impact PTs can have on their patients, not just physically but mentally as well. Since then, I’ve been drawn toward the sports and orthopedic side of physical therapy because I want to help athletes and active individuals get back to doing what they love.”
