There are SO many things about pregnancy, birth & postpartum that I didn’t know until I became a labor & delivery nurse 🤯

And honestly… some of these really surprised me.

The more I learned, the more I realized how much we don’t talk about before having a baby — especially when it comes to what happens during labor and those first few weeks postpartum.

Not all births look the same — but they can all be meaningful 🤰🤱 A cesarean birth can feel just as empowering and beautiful as a v*ginal birth when parents are supported, informed, and included in the experience. Here are a few ways to make that happen: - Request skin-to-skin in the OR (if medically safe) - Play your own birth playlist - Ask for a clear drape or mirror if you want to watch - Have your support person by your side - Advocate for delayed cord clamping when possible - Capture the moment — it’s still your baby’s birth day & measurements/weights can be done in the recovery room too! - Ask for extra warm blankets!
