Our first breakfast and lunch menus of the 2026–2027 school year are here! Take a look at what’s being served at C-S Elementary and the Jr./Sr. High School throughout August and September.

A few reminders:

🍽️ One breakfast and one lunch are available FREE to every student each school day.

📅 Monday, August 31, is a half day. Please note that lunch will not be served at the Jr./Sr. High School.

Menus are subject to change based on product availability. We can’t wait to welcome our Panthers back and keep them fueled for a great year of learning! 💙💛

Hello C-S Elementary Families!

First Day Shoe Fund provides new athletic shoes to students at Kalamazoo County Public elementary schools at no cost. Caregivers who need shoes for their elementary aged student can order online at www.firstdayshoefund.org/order or by scanning the QR code on the Informational Flyer. Online ordering opens on August 24, 2026 and will close on September 16, 2026.

Students will receive an informational flyer at elementary open house tomorrow or once school starts and caregivers can order by scanning the QR code and filling out the online form. This is the best way to order. You will receive an email confirmation immediately. Please keep this email as it acts as a receipt for your order.

Shoes will be fitted between September 24, 2026 through October 12, 2026 at the school buildings.

☕️ Coffee, conversation & connection! 💙💛

Thank you to the families who joined us Friday morning for our first Morning Brew with Dr. McClain!

It was a wonderful opportunity for students and families to spend some time with our new elementary principal, ask questions, share thoughts, and learn a little more about Dr. McClain’s journey to C-S and the experiences that have shaped him as an educator and leader.

Building strong relationships with our families is an important part of building a strong school community, and we’re grateful to everyone who stopped in, pulled up a chair, and joined the conversation. ☕️🐾

We’re looking forward to many more opportunities to connect as we begin this new school year together!

As we prepare for the 2026–2027 school year, Climax-Scotts families should be aware of a new Michigan law regarding student cell phones and wireless communication devices.

Beginning this school year, Michigan law requires public school districts to prohibit students from using wireless communication devices during instructional time. Districts may also establish additional expectations that best support their students and learning environments.

At C-S, our message is simple: Phones Away. Panthers Engage.

What families should know:
• Students may not use cell phones or other personal electronic devices during instructional hours.
• Devices brought to school should remain stored in the student’s locker during school hours.
• Instructional hours are 8:40 a.m.–3:45 p.m. at C-S Elementary and 7:25 a.m.–2:25 p.m. at C-S Jr./Sr. High School.
• Exceptions are provided for medically necessary devices, approved instructional uses, special education programming, IEP or 504 accommodations, and qualifying emergencies.
• Families who need to reach a student during the school day may contact the appropriate building office:

We encourage families to review the Student Handbook and discuss these expectations with their students before the first day of school. By working together, we can reduce distractions, strengthen engagement and help every Panther make the most of each instructional minute.

With the first day of school right around the corner, we’re asking families who have not yet completed registration to take a few minutes to do so in FinalForms, Climax-Scotts Community Schools’ official online registration system.

Pre-K Open House🐾

We’re opening our doors for a special C-S Pre-K Open House, and we’d love to welcome families to come see what makes our program such a special place to learn, play, explore and grow!

Come meet our caring Pre-K team, explore our beautiful facilities and Pre-K playground, see our classrooms, and learn more about the engaging experiences waiting for our littlest Panthers.

🌟 And there are still spots available for this fall!

C-S offers Pre-K 3’s and Pre-K 4’s, with options designed to meet the needs of our families. Many families also qualify for FREE or reduced-cost Pre-K, and our team is happy to help you explore your options.

Whether your child is already enrolled or your family is still considering Pre-K options for this fall, come see us! Meet our team, explore our program, ask questions and see firsthand what makes C-S a wonderful place for your child to begin their school journey. 💙💛

We are excited to celebrate C-S Pre-K 4 Lead Teacher Madisyn McCormick, who has been selected as a 2026 Kellogg Community Credit Union Teacher Grant recipient! 🐾

Madisyn received a $400 classroom grant from KCCU to support innovative classroom enhancements and create meaningful learning experiences for her students. The grant gives educators the flexibility to invest in the resources that will make the greatest impact in their classrooms, from books and classroom supplies to technology, flexible seating, STEM materials, art resources, and other educational tools.

For our littlest Panthers, those resources can mean even more opportunities to explore, create, discover, and learn through play. 💡📚🎨

We are so proud to have educators like Madisyn who continually look for ways to make learning engaging and meaningful for our students.

A huge THANK YOU to Kellogg Community Credit Union for investing in local educators and the students they serve — and congratulations again, Madisyn! We can’t wait to see how you put this grant to work in your Pre-K classroom! 💙💛

Join us for a relaxed meet and greet with our new principal, Dr. Will McClain, on Friday, August 21, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. at Climax-Scotts Elementary. Coffee, bagels, and good conversation will be provided!
