📣 Giant Step Summer Care Announcement

Giant Step Preschool & Child Care is pleased to announce its Summer Care schedule for 2026, following thoughtful collaboration between families, staff, and the Board of Directors.

After gathering input through our recent family survey and carefully reviewing daily care needs alongside historical attendance patterns, we have developed a schedule that prioritizes both meeting the needs of local families and ensuring the long-term sustainability of our program.

☀️ Summer Care Schedule
📅 June 2nd – August 13th
🕒 Tuesday through Thursday | 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
🚫 Closed on Mondays
📆 Summer Closure: May 25th–28th (one week closure)

This adjusted schedule reflects our commitment to being both family-focused and fiscally responsible, allowing us to continue providing consistent, high-quality care while adapting to actual community needs.

We understand that schedule changes can impact families differently. For those who previously relied on Monday care, we are committed to working with you individually to explore alternative scheduling options whenever possible.

Our regular Monday–Thursday schedule will resume August 17th.

At Giant Step, we believe strong programs are built through open communication, community input, and thoughtful decision-making. We are grateful for the continued trust and partnership of our families and the Rangely community as we work to provide a stable, supportive environment for local children.

✨ Little Artists, Big Imaginations! ✨

This week we had some extra special fun at Giant Step! We used a little help from AI to turn our kiddos into their very own coloring pages 🎨

Each child got to pick their favorite theme, see themselves come to life in a fun new way, and then color their very own masterpiece 💛

From unicorns and superheroes to animals and everything in between… their creativity truly shined! 🌈

We love finding new ways to make learning fun, boost confidence, and let each child express who they are 💫

We are excited to announce that Universal Preschool Colorado (UPK) enrollment is open, and Giant Step Preschool & Child Care is proud to be an approved UPK provider right here in Rangely!
What is UPK?
UPK is a Colorado state-funded program that provides free preschool hours for eligible 4-year-olds (and some 3-year-olds with qualifying factors). This means your child can receive high-quality early education at little to no cost to your family.

Giant Step Summer Care Sign-Up is Now Open! ☀️

We know this may feel early, but we want to give our families plenty of time to plan ahead for summer.

Due to challenges with low and inconsistent attendance in the past, our summer schedule (days and hours) will be built directly from the needs submitted on this form. This means we may not be able to operate full weeks or full hours without enough committed enrollment.
Your responses are incredibly important in helping us:
✔️ Plan appropriate staffing
✔️ Maintain high-quality care
✔️ Ensure the sustainability of our program

We are also including an option in the form for families to vote on preferred summer break dates, so we can choose what works best for the majority.

At Giant Step Preschool & Child Care, we believe every behavior is a learning opportunity. 💛

You may hear your child talk about a “time in” instead of a time out—and we want to share what that means!

When a child is struggling with behavior, our first step is always redirection. If they’re still having a hard time, we move to a “time in.”

A “time in” means your child sits with a teacher, not away from others. During this time, we:
✔️ Help them calm their bodies and emotions
✔️ Talk through what happened in an age-appropriate way
✔️ Practice better & safe choices for next time
✔️ Provide support, not punishment

Our goal is never to shame or isolate a child. Instead, we focus on teaching, guiding, and building emotional skills that will help them succeed both in and out of the classroom.

We are here to partner with you in raising kind, confident, and capable kids. 🤍
