When I was 40 I had a defining moment in my life. My children were 5 and 3 years-old at the time and I had the privilege of being a stay-at-home mom after a successful career in the foodservice business. My husband and I had an agreement that when we married and our little ones went to school I would go back to work. I knew both of us couldn’t work in the corporate world and properly raise a family so I went searching for jobs that would fulfill me and work around the priority of raising a family. Then that moment happened while I was standing in the kitchen staring out into our backyard, my husband John said to me, “Jean Marie, you should become a professional organizer because that is really what you’re like on a daily basis. No matter where you are or who you are with – you are always organizing homes, people, things and events.” His thought resonated with my instincts and POSSE Partners (John being my first partner) was born. Organizing has always come easy to me and it is a skill that I love to use and share because it helps people transform their lives. When I turned 50 I had another defining moment. After 100 clients or so, I realized that I am passionate about working with people who have been in their homes for many years and have decided to either perform a major “whole home” decluttering, or move. As their professional organizer we work together in a trusting relationship side-by-side. I help them physically and emotionally detach them from their current home and possessions readying them for the next step in their lives no matter where they are going. I belong to the following associations below as I feel strongly about my own professional development. I am currently involved in the following:

My colleague Kyong Lee operates two of the best music schools, offering all kinds of music lessons for children and adults. I highly recommend getting musical for both brain health and fun. You'd get a professional organizer to facilitate the entire removal process, including full removal of all the non-keepers, re-organizing all the keepers that are staying, and preparing items for donations afterwards.

I will leave you with what I believe is some of the best advice when moving people (let alone an aging parent). Spend as much time as you can getting your loved one decluttered to the point of ONLY taking what they love, use and need and then ask them "where" they want those items
