Continuing our BDC internship highlights, next up we have Isaac Ziebarth! 🌽🌾

Year in school: Sophomore
Major: Agronomy & Dairy and Food Animal Management

Company you’re working for: Premier Cooperative
Internship title: Agronomy Operations Intern

Day to day tasks: scouting fields, operating equipment, and making deliveries

Most rewarding experience: my most rewarding experience is seeing fields I helped maintain grow into a great looking crop

One thing you have learned/ hope to learn: I’ve learned that the best thing for a field isn’t always the best thing for the farm and it is important to consider the whole farm when making management decisions.

Isaac’s skills and experience gained this summer, especially operating equipment, will prove extremely useful this fall as Isaac serves as one of our grounds chairs for WDE!

Congratulations to Adam Bindl with your heifers!

Continuing our BDC Internship highlights, we have a student who went above and beyond to take on multiple opportunities this summer, Kiara Konyn! 🐄📚

Year in school: Sophomore
Major: Dairy & Food Animal Management

Kiara had the opportunity to attend the United States Dairy Education and Training Consortium for the first 6 weeks of the summer in Clovis, New Mexico. Through this opportunity Kiara spent time both in the classroom and on farms across both New Mexico and Texas- learning about Nutrition, reproduction, animal health, and more. Each of the 6 weeks brought new hands on experiences, for which Kiara was so grateful to learn, and is excited to bring to her future career!

Kiara spent the second half of her summer at Royal Farms Dairy.
Your internship title: Dairy Intern

Day to day tasks: Rotated through different departments each week, including reproduction, maternity, hospital, nutrition, and heifer care, learning the day to day responsibilities of each area and working alongside the employees.

One thing you have learned/hope to learn: I was excited for the opportunity to work on a much larger scale dairy than my family’s farm back home while continuing to practice and improve my skills especially in breeding and learning from experienced employees.
Most rewarding experience: working in maternity and with the breeding crew- especially getting to breed and ultrasound cows and heifers independently.

Kiara’s ambition and passion for the dairy industry shines in all that she does, and we are so excited to have her serving as BDC Secretary for this coming school year, and a show ring chair at WDE 2026!

Our next BDC member internship highlight is Brian Styer!🐄

Year in school: Junior
Major: Agricultural Business Management

Company you are working for: Integral Financial
Your title at your internship: Dairy Business Consulting Intern
Your day to day tasks: ride along to on-farm meetings with producers, assist with data entry and analysis, and work on various projects to enhance the reports Integral uses.

Most rewarding experience: The most rewarding experience has been getting to see the passion that so many producers around the state have for their operations.

One thing you have learned/ hope to learn: One thing I’ve learned is that there’s no one right way to run a dairy farm; everyone has slightly different ways to successfully manage and operate their farm, which has been really neat to see and compare across farms.

Brian is serving as our Co-General Chair for this coming World Dairy Expo, and we are excited to see the valuable industry insight and passion Brian gained through his internship shine in this role.

To end National June Dairy Month, we are going to kick off BDC member internship highlights- Starting with our current Badger Dairy Club President, Brooklyn Schwoerer! 🐄🥛🧀

Year in school: Senior
Major: Dairy Science with a certificate in Agricultural Business Management

Company you are working for: Black and White by Brooks Farms
Your title at your internship: Summer Marketing Intern
Your day to day tasks: my day to day tasks include cheese deliveries, social media posts, working farmers markets, and giving farm tours!

Most rewarding experience: I would say my most rewarding experience so far has been attending local farmers markets in the Waupaca/Appleton area. Every Saturday I have been able to inform people about locally sourced products and the importance of the dairy industry.

One thing you have learned/ hope to learn: from this internship, I hope to expand my communication skills while stepping outside my comfort zone and developing professional skills I’ll use throughout my career.

Brooklyn has a strong passion for the dairy industry, and we are so excited to see the way she uses skills gained during her internship to lead the Badger Dairy Club this coming school year!!
