Students at a recent lab experienced what it’s like to live with some common disabilities faced by older adults. They had to prepare and eat a meal while wearing vision-impairing glasses, sensation-dulling gloves, and popsicle sticks taped to their hands that mimicked stiff, arthritic joints.

Experiences like this give students the empathetic insight needed to understand the challenges their patients encounter, making them better practitioners of patient-centered care.

With 28 years of experience as a licensed occupational therapist, Cindy brings deep expertise in adult rehabilitation, functional recovery, and clinical practice into the classroom.

At Edgewood University, Cindy’s teaching emphasizes experiential learning and real-world clinical scenarios, helping students strengthen clinical reasoning and prepare ethical, client centered practice.

Her doctoral work, focused on student wellbeing and academic persistence, reflects her commitment to supporting the whole student and advancing meaningful educational practices.

Outside the classroom, Cindy enjoys spending time with her children and caring for her four horses 🐎
