Jack and Jill Bathroom Reveal! Our daughter’s bathroom turned out so good! We are in love with all of the navy blue, herringbone, and gold accents. It is so much more updated than the standard builder grade bathroom we started with and has a lot more personality. We did not end up replacing the vanity or dark granite counters, although that was in our original plan, I think the existing vanity worked out perfect in the end. I am still working on finding the perfect shower curtain, and then this bathroom will be in full use. Now time for the next project, which I might switch up and make our master bath because I am so jealous of the other bathroom makeovers.

Our area was devastated by Hurricane Sally. Homes were destroyed and thousands (including us) were without power or water for several days. Driving around afterwards, we saw boats in yards, pecan orchards gone, house after house without roofs, trees littering the streets, boat docks wiped away. Hundreds lost everything and many haven’t even started the process to rebuild yet.
It was humbling after being here for 5 years and experiencing a storm like that. Our condo took on a lot of damage, but we were more than lucky that the biggest issue with our home was our back porch. And to say it was our biggest issue is so humbling after seeing all of the devastation around us.
But it being 2020, we had to find a silver lining. And that was that our porch we quickly enclosed 2 years prior with a few 2x4s and outdoor primer would finally get the attention and respect it deserved as an extension of our home. When you live on the coast, outdoor living is a part of life. And although Sally was devastating in so many ways, she gave us this porch project as a second chance for something beautiful.

Hey strangers! It has been a minute since I've posted, 2015 to be exact. I've been so quiet on here because in 2015 our family made a move across the country to the Gulf Coast of Alabama. Yes, Alabama does have a Gulf Coast! Since that time I have completed graduate school and have put down my camera professionally while working as a PA-C (physician assistant). I am changing the name and content of this page to document our adventures on the Gulf Coast as Midwest transplants, and our never ending projects on our cookie cutter home and Gulf front condo. We (Ben and I) hope that you will stick around to follow along as we slowly transform our house into a modern, coastal, craftsman (that's a mouthful) and our condo into our mini beach front paradise! You can also follow along on instagram at .
