The call for proposals is now open for the Big Berks 2027 and closes on June 30, 2026!

Join us in Minneapolis (June 10–13, 2027) for “Beyond Boundaries: Gender, History and the Futures We Imagine.”

Our 2027 theme calls us to reaffirm the centrality of feminist, q***r, Black, Brown, and trans histories to our collective understanding of the past—and to the preservation and progress of democratic life. At a moment when histories of women, gender, and sexualities are under attack—in classrooms, archives, museums, parks, and public discourse—the Berks stands in defense of historical truth and the right to teach, research, and tell stories that reflect the complexity of human experience.

We invite submissions from historians, primary and secondary educators, archivists, curators, artists, independent scholars, community activists, and practitioners across disciplines and geographies, representing all career stages from emerging to established professionals.

As false claims and junk science increasingly distort public understanding of reproductive health, leading experts are coming together to confront the growing threat mis- and disinformation pose to access, policy and democracy itself.

On Feb. 17, the Guttmacher Institute, Ms. magazine and Georgetown University’s O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law will co-host a virtual webinar examining how misinformation is reshaping debates around contraception, abortion and sexual and reproductive health and rights in the United States. Yes, you do have pronouns. Whether you like it or not. 12/28/2025

JUST SO YOU KNOW, yes, you do have pronouns. Whether you like it or not.

The panic over pronouns isn't about ideology - it's about power, identity, and who gets to decide what counts as "normal."

Data Center Gold Rush: Diving into Water Demands
Tuesday, December 9 at 6pm
Register: bit.ly/Data-Center-Webinar

Most of the recent articles and webinars on data centers focus on their energy use, but there is another significant concern: Water use. The reality is, in this modern gold rush, there are more proposed hyperscale data centers than our water resources can support. These proposed projects don’t fit into our permitting and regulatory systems. CURE is a leader on the rapidly emerging issues around data center development.

The canceled grants had a horrific impact on many Native communities. It will not be easy to reinstate some of the programs. What the upheaval taught us is that there is no sustainability when Native cultural institutions depend on one source of funding. ATALM is committed to working with its major funders to provide additional layers of support.
