Local activation of Farm Neighbors Care projects helps build connections, spread awareness and strengthen rural communities.

Shawano County Farm Bureau assembled and delivered care packages to local farmers as part of their project. Care packages in cooler bags included water, snacks, Emergen-C and work gloves which were delivered throughout May to honor May Mental Health Month.

Randy Romanski, Secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), assisted in delivering some of the packages and met with farmers to discuss issues impacting them.

This project was supported through a Farm Neighbors Care grant made possible by the Wisconsin Farm Bureau Foundation and McCade's Joyride.

In agriculture, boundaries can be especially hard. You feel the pressure to always be available, feel guilty when trying to take time off, carry unspoken expectations that lead to resentment and avoid those difficult conversations to keep peace within the family.

However, when boundaries are absent, stress builds, sometimes slowly but sometimes all at once. Read more about setting boundaries on the farm in the caption below. 👇
