I’m not really getting “back to normal” after vacation… because normal changed while we were gone.
We came home from nine days in Italy still adjusting to the time change and trying to remember what day it is.
At the same time, the kids started a brand-new summer camp.
I’m no longer working my staging job.
And my daughter is heading into a new chapter with a new soccer team.
So there’s a lot changing around here all at once.
And I think this is where we can make ourselves really frustrated.
We expect to come home, snap back into our old routine, and immediately feel settled again.
But sometimes the old routine doesn’t fit anymore.
The schedule changed.
The demands changed.
The season changed.
So instead of trying to force everything back into place, I’m asking a better question:
What still matters—and where does it fit now?
Strength training still matters.
Protein and regular meals still matter.
Sleep, water, movement, and some structure still matter.
But they may need to look a little different while we adjust to post-vacation life and figure out our summer rhythm.
The habits don’t need to change.
But the way they fit into this season might.
