I began searching for an attractive lap pad after my daughter, Lillie, was diagnosed with a neurological-deve
lopmental disorder called, Rett syndrome. As a consumer, I was not thrilled with the options. A child may have special needs, but they deserve to have the same attractive options as their peers. The equipment children with special needs require may be unique, but that does not mean their choices should be unique, as well. ;)
My design has been tailored to the needs I, as a parent and consumer, saw were most necessary and beneficial. I also took into consideration the short comings of other lap pads I have tried in the past. In addition to placing the lap pad solely in the lap, we also enjoy the option to spread the Lap pad over our daughter's legs vertically. Different days call for different needs. Lillie Pads are portable and perfect for school, doctors appts, restaurants, and in the car. The weight in a lap pad provides deep pressure touch stimulation (DPTS) and sensory input. They are often used as a calming and/or concentration tool.

Made with your choice of two coordinating or different fabrics. Cotton is the coolest option and is what I predominantly use, but other fabrics are available. Minky and minky dot fabric are only recommended for one side paired with a cotton blend. I also offer a cotton/fleece option upon request. I frequently purchase fabric from our local Joann's, Hobby Lobby, as well as Fabric.com. Standard Lillie Pad are 3 lbs and are filled with non-toxic, machine washable poly pellets. The weight Is concentrated into a smaller area, thus, less weight than a weighted blanket. More weight is available upon request for an additional $3 per lb. Dimensions of the Lillie Pad may need to be altered accordingly to accommodate the extra weight. Lillie Pads are machine washable on a cool, gentle cycle. You may tumble dry or dry on a low setting. Laying flat to dry is a great option where convenient.
