🌍 The New Age of Business
Technology, Changing Values & a Global Mindset
with Dr. Seth Selke
Tuesdays, Sept. 8, 15, 22, 29
3:00–4:00 PM
Location: Taylor Amphitheatre
In today’s rapidly shifting world, business is being reshaped by technology, evolving social values, and a global perspective. Yet at its core, business still rises and falls on people — on trust, creativity, and the willingness to adapt.
In this four‑week, discussion‑based course, participants will explore:
• Modern Business Evolution — how the field has transformed over the past decades
• Technology’s Influence — from automation to digital culture
• Changing Social Values — and what they mean for workers and consumers
• Global Mindset — understanding interconnected markets and communities
• Future Trends — the challenges and opportunities ahead
By understanding these shifts, participants will gain insight into navigating today’s complex business landscape with clarity and confidence.
About Dr. Seth Selke
Dr. Selke brings nearly two decades of experience in higher education, grounded in a lifelong career in the hospitality industry. Before entering academia, he managed family restaurants and wholesale distribution companies — experiences that shaped his leadership style and practical approach to teaching.
He has served as an executive, director, consultant, and faculty member, leading cross‑functional teams and advising organizations on operational strategy. His blend of hands‑on business experience and academic insight allows him to connect theory to real‑world application in a way that is both engaging and accessible.

About the Class

A challenging, complex, metaphorical, and deeply symbolic work, Perestroika explores the intersecting themes of AIDS, politics, migration, spirituality, and the sacredness of everyday life in 1980s America. The play continues the narrative begun in Millennium Approaches, following characters through profound struggle, transformation, and resilience as the AIDS crisis intensifies.
