Brett Copeland, Director of Child Development Centers at Central Georgia Technical College, shares how our services make a difference for CGTC students who are parents. By offering quality childcare, the center helps students balance their academic and family commitments, ensuring they can focus on their education while knowing their children are in good hands. πŸ’‘πŸ‘©β€πŸ«

CGTC Child Development Centers will be closed Friday, January 10th along with our greater college family. We will resume normal operations on Monday, January 13th. Stay warm and be safe!

In response to the projections for inclement winter weather across North and Central Georgia on Friday from the National Weather Service (NWS), Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA), and the Governor's Office, all Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) campuses and centers will be closed Friday, January 10, 2025.

Earlier this week, the Governor's Office directed state agencies to close buildings and halt operations in Macon-Bibb County and north within the state, prompting College leadership to close Friday.

While most concern for the effect of the winter weather is expected in North and Central Georgia, the College encourages students, faculty, staff, and their families across its service area to stay diligent and prepared as the weather approaches. Up-to-the-minute weather reports and safety protocols are issued by local authorities, including NWS and GEMA.

CGTC will re-open for regularly scheduled hours on Monday, January 13, 2025.

Nursing students from the "big school" (aka Central Georgia Technical College) held a Trick or Treat for us today!

All of our children visited each station on our playground with quick activities about hand hygiene, dental health, physical activity, sleeping, nutrition and more. Non-food treats were on hand -- making sure all of us could enjoy regardless of special dietary needs. And bubbles. Lots of bubbles!

Collaborations between the CDCs and programs at the College benefit our children and our college students. Trunk or treat for these nursing students is a chance to work with children and gain some pediatric experience coaching children of different ages in developmentally appropriate ways. It is one of the way lab schools add value to college campuses!

And did we mention it's pretty fun to do something different sometimes?

Thanks to our friends from down the road!

Our work changes lives.
Children explore and experience
Families are equipped and empowered
Students expound on classroom instruction
Practices grows and evolves in us and through us

And at the heart of all this work are our teachers --
early learning professionals who
see children as capable, creative beings
eager to connect and ready to construct new understanding
on their path to becoming.

All while lifting up families and raising up students on their own journeys of being and discovery.

More than daycare. Much more than babysitting.
Nationally accredited, Quality Rated childcare -- a working lab school -- a place for children, families, and students to learn and grow together.

Are you ready to change lives? An application is step one.
