Making distance learning with STEM/STEAM a blast!

We are having a blast this week! The kids have programmed our robots Dash, Dot, Sphero and the Ozobots. They have made their own music with Osmo Coding Jam. They have built Snap circuits including a Rover! They have built their own video game with Bloxels, traveled to places far away with Google Expeditions and learned how to build on th 3D computers! Whew, it has been a busy week :)

These kids built their very own computers this week. They have spent the week becoming master coders. I am AMAZED at their skill!!! The next generation of programmers!! :)

Last week Ms. Holly and her fifth grade class decorating their new STEM binders and learning how to work the new app, Seesaw. This app allows the children to communicate and share their ideas on different subjects by drawing pictures, typing, and taking a video of themselves and then sharing it on the app for the rest of their class to see. This is such a good way for them to learn and have fun at the same time!

Hello everyone!! I am Ms. Holly's intern, Evans, and I am so excited about this awesome year ahead of us!! Right now, Ms. Holly has had all of her STEM classes working on the ZSpace 3D computers learning how to do many different fun activities on them, and next, she will be starting a very interesting unit on aquaponics. Also, if you look closely in the class pictures, you will see that I am holding our class pet Marvin. He is a leopard gecko who is so sweet, and the children love to play with him! Hope you enjoy these pictures :)

We are off to a great start this year! We have lots of new and exciting things happening in STEM! My intern, Evans will be posting pictures of what is happening in our classroom throughout the year. Here are a few photos of my new classroom in our beautiful new lower school building. Right now we are learning how to use our cool new Zspace 3D computers and then we will dive into some aquaponics. Hope you enjoy the pictures she post as it allows you a small glimpse into the creativity and engineering happening in our class.

A HUGE thank you to Mr. Bill Glisson with Georgia Power for coming to talk about renewable energy with out class today! The class enjoyed lots of hands on activities. The last one made them look twice, he told them and I quote, "Take as much candy from my bag as you want, no limit!" Ask your student WHY? Can you guess the lesson being taught?
