I’ve been feeling myself activating my reserves so I can create more and be of greater service to my self, projects, and community. Being active is nice, and so is opening up so that you too may receive.

With this upcoming Libra season, be mindful of how you’re managing your energy. Are you remembering to fill your own cup? If not, Feed Your Soul, too while you’re at it.

I’ve successfully completed my first meal prep freezer session for a client! What a wonderful feeling it was to finally go through this process with someone. My client couldn’t even wait to chow down! They took one of the taco bowl portions before I could even label it and put it away.

I’ve been working pretty tirelessly these past few months to make my vision reality. Seeing these first manifestations is exciting! I hope my client’s tummy stays happy.
This is only the beginning.

Is this new plate ware?? Also part of my latest estate sale haul are these lettuce leaf plates. I didn’t think they were lettuce leaves until group consensus informed me otherwise. I just thought they were pretty green leaves.

The real question is what is on the plate. On the plate today we have a tofu stir fry with kimchi and a boiled egg. It was delicious, thanks for asking.

I tried to make granola bars and ended up with granola. The biggest thing that my kitchen experience has taught me is that becoming skilled in a craft doesn’t mean you never mess up. It means you know how to turn the problem into a solution.

Also, this jar came from an estate sale and it is so cute!!!

When I asked my friend Rae what comes to mind when she thinks of permaculture, she said “the first thing I think of with permaculture is the process with the chickens and of having…more of a closed system and not having to import fertilizer, export waste, but being able to w**d the garden, take your w**ds, take your food scraps, with the chickens, let them process the material, and then you harvest their s**t, their compost, and use it back in the garden, and that to me, is like, sooo profoundly simple, and obvious, amazing, and I love chickens.

I think that [permaculture is] having more of a closed, integrated, authentic system of growing food and living with the environment.”

What a beautiful synopsis of what permaculture is. A closed, integrated, authentic system creates the perfect foundation for growth. While we can’t change the political scope overnight, we can learn how to reclaim our power through providing for ourselves and keeping our own energy flowing in the systems we nourish.

What are some ways that you can think of where having more of a permaculture mindset could help in other areas of your life?

In honor of Leo season, we have to mention the power of fire energy.

In this conversation I shared my opinion that “energy is just so important. Like, this is energy. [gestures toward the fire]

People don't understand their power comes from heat…this is happening somewhere even if you're not the one doing it, and I think that being able to harvest–like literally the wood was falling.

The wood was already there. We just picked it up. We're not even having to cut down trees, it's just what's already happening.

It's just amazing how, in relationship, it just feels like we're not taking more than there is…you can see what there is.

It's just, pretty amazing, and it inspires you to just work to your fullest extent because you're actually experiencing what you're working for, and I think that our jobs that are meant to keep us on hamster wheels in a lot of ways don't allow us to experience what it actually means to live.”

But what does it mean to live? How do we get back to being grounded in what creation is on a foundational level? How do we participate in our ecosystem in a way that reduces harm and promotes whole-being connection?

Join the conversation in the comments, and check out our linktree to get the video of this full conversation!

Next week, we’re going to talk about how permaculture relates to lifestyle and nutrition. More deeply than that, we’ll deconstruct functional nutrition and how these ideas overlap.

When I asked my friend Noam what permaculture means to them, they said “the first image that just came to mind was seeing, like this really big corn field, and that stretches for acres and acres and Mama Earth is saying to herself ‘What the f*** are these humans doing on my chest?’

When I think about permaculture, it's like an entirely different relationship, saying ‘you know…how does the Earth really want to be treated? And, if we're considering ourselves stewards, whatever that means, or we think of ourselves as the ones that have the ability to change the environment and make significant changes in the way things look…What way does that responsibility go, and how can it be manifested?’”

******
We have the power to change things, and Noam makes this clear. While the systems that already exist are continuing to play their game, we have the power to even out the playing field by coming together through intentional community.
