DEATH CAFE

Please join us in sacred space to talk about death.

Death Cafes are gatherings held all over the world for the purpose of bringing death out of the taboo closet.. The cafes give people a chance to talk about this most important topic that every one of us will at some time experience. It has long been taught by many spiritual teachers that, the more we recognize, accept, and incorporate the reality of death, the more precious and vivid our lives become. These are not morbid gatherings at all but very alive, engaging, and often hilarious conversations. Talking about death won’t cause you to die. But not talking about it may result in a life less fully lived and appreciated. We hope you’ll join us. You won’t be sorry.

Facilitator Cherith Keeton’s capacity for holding space is deep and wide. Cherith is a farmer, loving and involved community member and shamanic practitioner, who donates time to various causes, including the facilitation of Death Cafes and mediation with the Center for Dispute Settlement.

Today I celebrate a love affair that began 54 years ago at the first Earth Day Celebration - April 22, 1970. No, it isn't with a high-school sweetheart. It was with my beautiful Mother ~ Gaia. Our 10th grade biology teacher took our class to the local state park to clean up garbage that was littering the streams. At the first 'thuck' of my hiking boot being sucked - no, caressed - into her muddy embrace I was hooked. She had me, literally 'hook, line and sinker'.

Yes, I have to admit that I have strayed, lured by the siren song of material comforts, asphalt and concrete, 'stuff'. But she was always there, waiting. She knew that these follies were the low-hanging fruit grasped by one who had lost her roots. Yet she waited with the patience and serenity of the lover who scans the shoreline for the return of her beloved from the sea. And I have returned...

Please take a moment today to thank your Mother. Kneel down and kiss her feet. Take a handful of her dust in your hands, and rub them together. Tell her 'I love you, I adore you, I will never leave you'. Feel her pulling you close to her - the gravity that keeps you connected - because she loves you so very, very much.

Do something. Commune with a tree. Walk bare-footed – skin to skin – yours and hers. Sing to the flowers. Love her, love her, love her. Connect with like-minded people. Sing. Dance. Raise your frequency, which raises hers – back and forth, back and forth.

Dear Ones, the Grandmothers are calling those of us who are guided to join in an online Net of Light meditation at 6PM EST on the day of the eclipse. We will be lead in the Net of Light meditation and then invited to share a brief New Moon intention. New Moon in Aries is about new beginnings, authenticity, self-discovery, independence, courage...
