This week's episode of the Mastering Business Basics podcast has been posted entitled: Is AI Ruining Your Analytics?
Marketing is probably one of the most fluid and confusing parts of running a business. One of the things that everybody's heard in the news lately is the subject of artificial intelligence, or AI, as we all know it as. But, what a lot of small business people don't realize is how that is affecting their marketing, and the statistics and analytics they get from marketing are probably going to be skewed because of it.
We have a special guest today, and we're going touch on that subject and a lot more. Don't let your business get lost in the dust...

Welcome to the latest episode of Mastering Business Basics. Today, we have a very special guest, Sally Gimon, and she's going to teach us a few things that even in the 24 years I've been doing taxes, I had not learned. And I love learning about new things, and I love saving people money. So this is going to be, I think, a very interesting conversation if you are tired of handing over so much of your hard earned money to the federal and state governments.
There is a reason the uber-rich pay so little in taxes and you are about to find out.

The latest episode of Mastering Business Basics entitled "How to Lose Money and Time" has been posted.
Thankfully, tax season is over and I am back, and I'm going to talk today about something I've been wanting to talk about for a while, and I think is a very important subject. Because the statistics show that 70% of the people in this country are looking for a way to make extra money, and most of them are losing money instead. And that's a shame.
There's basically two ways that you can make extra money. You can just work and earn money and then go back and work and earn money. And the other is to create residual income that continues to pay you money long after you've quit the work. But there are some pitfalls you need to know before you start your journey.

Episode 4 of the Mastering Business Basics Podcast is now available!!
In our previous three episodes, I've talked about your why and the necessity of creating one and determining what it is, because it's gonna help determine your success.
I've talked about your likes and your dislikes and how you need to determine those. And incorporate them into your business plan, which will give you a better chance of success. I've talked about your skillset, sitting down and taking a close look at what you like to do, what you don't like to do, what your skillset is, what it isn't. What you need to develop yourself, and what you need to hire other people for.
Those are important, but even more important than that is the foundational aspects of running a business. There's three pillars that undermine every business. I don't care if you're a small Schedule C or whether you're a huge C corporation, it doesn't matter.
All three of these things are important. It's just the scale of them that changes. And those three pillars are your legal format, your logistical organizations, and your tax considerations. You have to know these because if you change one, it changes the other two. They work together.
That's why it's important to know all three of these because if you change something over here, you could be changing things over there and not realize it, get yourself in a lot of trouble, or lose a lot of money in the process
We don't want that.

It's time for the lastest episode of Mastering Business Basics - The Podcast.
When it comes to considering how to get your business started, there are two problems that always seem to come up. The first for many people is what kind of business is right for me. The second is not taking a good look at the skills every business person needs to have in their arsenal to be successful.
In this episode, I will be going over the set of skills that all of the most successful business people have that you should also cultivate or hire someone that has them to build out the framework of your enterprise.
I will also briefly discuss how to go about finding business ideas that might work for the community that you live in.
But, most of all, it should give you a lot of food for thought.

Prologue
“The ‘missing link’ in all systems of education known in civilization today may be found in the failure of educational institutions to teach their students how to organize and use knowledge after they acquire it.” — Napoleon Hill
Nowhere is this more apparent than in the area of building a business. We have more information being thrown at us than ever before, but a lack of people that will help us sort through the good and bad advice to bring all of the puzzle pieces together to give the best chance for success. That is my mission. To help build a solid foundation under any endeavor people wish to hang their hat on.
As for backstory, I’ve been building or managing businesses for over fifty years, but for the last two decades+ as a Master Tax Advisor/Enrolled Agent, I’ve also been preparing taxes commercially - specializing in small business taxes. During this time I have watched people lose thousands of dollars needlessly and I decided to try and do something about it. This was not an easy task, because the needs of the many differ in so many ways.
To accomplish this, I needed programs and educational opportunities for that person that just needs to make a few hundred dollars to balance the budget up to the person that wants to run a thriving business. So, I have created avenues to help people do what their desires are. I put all of that information together from basic business courses, podcasts, blogs and all the way up to a complete college level on-line course on the three inter-connected things a business person needs to know: legal formats, paperwork requirements, and taxation.
This workbook has been created to be a stand-alone journal for you to use or in conjunction with our on-line courses. It has places for you to write down your thoughts or information you need to refer back to as you build your business.
One of the things that I often hear small business people say is that they don’t need to learn all these things because they can just hire a CPA, accountant or tax preparer to take care of it. And at some point, you will need to bring one or more of these professionals on your team. BUT, how do you know they are doing what is best for YOUR business? If you hire the wrong person, it could cost you thousands of dollars and the only way to prevent that is to educate yourself so you can interview and hire the right one - just like you would any other employee.
I have found that starting out in the business world we tend to measure success by the amount of profit we make, but I've gotten to the point in life where my definition of success is how many lives I've improved - thus my mission of creating educational media that every entrepreneur needs to know, but nobody wants to take the time to learn (which does make it a challenge).
