Hi Families!
You will notice a Heart F.E.L.T. Weekend Food Bag Program form coming home with your student sometime this week or next. If your family would like to participate, simply complete the form and return it to school. If you would prefer to have a one-on-one conversation before signing up, please feel free to call me using the number listed on the form.
I also wanted to provide a few details about the program:
All students are eligible to participate, regardless of income.
Where does the food come from? Great question!
The food bags are provided through partnerships with five local churches. Some of these churches work with the Maryland Food Bank to assemble the bags, while others use funds from their own organizations to purchase food and create the bags themselves.
While I do not have direct control over the specific items included in the bags, I am happy to share suggestions with our church partners. The purpose of the program is to help fill the gap over the weekend by providing shelf-stable food items that students can easily access at home.
Items may include:
Canned fruits and vegetables
Crackers
Fruit snacks
Canned meats
Shelf-stable milk
Cereal
Noodles
Rice
Other nonperishable food items
If your PAC student has siblings who attend other schools and you would like them to receive a weekend food bag as well, please let me know or note it on the signup form. We can absolutely work to ensure those students receive food bags, too.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
