St. Simon Parish Hearts for Haiti

All fund-raising in 2024 for the School of the Infant Jesus is dedicated to relieving classroom overcrowding or other immediate needs such as food for students. The funds also support the 50 girls, aged 5 - 18, who live at the school orphanage. The Sisters are dedicated to making sure that these girls are cared-for and educated. Infant Jesus has absorbed the teachers and students from two other local schools operated by the Salesian Sisters. But there are so many students that they use a split schedule with some children attending school in the morning and others coming in the afternoon. On a positive note, the School of the Infant Jesus has successfully added high school classes. Only 10% of Haitian children reach high school due to lack of money or lack of nearby schools. The parents and high school-aged students are very happy to have this opportunity.
