The GCMS Rebels rounded out the Shyla VanAlstine Memorial Tournament with a reverse sweep 🧹 in game 1 against Creekbend 🔥 (13-25, 25-18, 15-10) and fell short against Leakesville Jr High in 2 sets (18-25, 18-25), ending the day with a 1-1 record. The record however doesn’t show the strengths displayed today and the weaknesses revealed that this team is ready to continue the work on!💪🏽

Next up - back into district play Monday against Ocean Springs @ home!❤️💛🏐

SCIENCE IN ACTION AT GCMS!
Mrs. Hammock’s 8th Grade Science students are making some waves at George County Middle School! 🌊

After learning about the properties and behaviors of waves, students put their knowledge into action with a hands-on lab exploring sound waves and light waves. Through demonstrations and experimentation, they were able to take concepts from the classroom and actually see—and hear—science at work!
Hands-on learning + curious minds = a great day of science at GCMS!

📐 Science in Action at GCMS! 🧠✨

Students in Ms. Miller’s 7th Grade Science classes put their problem-solving skills to the test today with a hands-on Prediction Lab!

Students constructed two different geometric shapes, tested each shape’s resistance to change, and then used what they observed to modify their designs and make them stronger.

This activity gave students the opportunity to move beyond the textbook and see geometry at work through prediction, testing, critical thinking, and problem-solving. They learned that sometimes the best way to understand why something works is to build it, test it, and improve it!

Great job, Ms. Miller and students, for making science hands-on and meaningful!

Mrs. Jessie Taylor’s Art 1 students are kicking off the year with a creative project that’s all about what makes each of them unique!

For their first project, “If My Mind Were a Room,” students are using art to create a visual representation of how their individual minds work. Their artwork offers a glimpse into their personalities, interests, thoughts, ideas, and the things that make them them, without having to say a single word.

What a creative way to build connections, learn more about one another, and celebrate the fact that no two minds or works of art are exactly alike!

We love seeing our GCMS students express themselves and fill our school with creativity! ❤️💛
