We can't wait to see you at this month's Hands-On History: Weaving & Working on the Line!

Lowell National Historical Park and the Tsongas Industrial History Center welcome you to "Hands‑On History," part of the City of Lowell’s Bicentennial celebrations and the Tsongas Industrial History Center’s 35th anniversary.

This Saturday, June 13, we will offer two Hands on History workshops: Working on the Line and Weaving. Try weaving on one of our hand looms that work well for all ages. Then, jump into a fun assembly line activity and work with others to keep pace with the hustle and bustle of factory life! Drop in to the Boott Cotton Mills Museum between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to experience history by doing.

Working on the Line Workshops begin at 1 p.m. Sessions will take place every half hour, with the last one starting at 3:30 p.m. Each session has a maximum of 28 participants, first-come, first-serve.

Hands‑On History activities will take place on the second Saturday of each month through October. Check back for more opportunities in the coming months.

The Boott Cotton Mills Museum weave room at Lowell National Historical Park is always a highlight of our field trips. Here's what one student recently wrote to us: "Thank you for an amazing day at the mills. My favorite part of the day was when we went to see the machine room. One reason I liked it was that there was a beat to the noise they made. Another reason I liked the machine room was because we got to hear a quieter version of the sounds the mill girls had to hear for 14 hours per day! These are the reasons that the machine room was my favorite.” We certainly feel the beat in this awesome drawing they sent!
