Swanty is a long time Lovelander who is committed to making the Thompson School District the gold standard once again.

The Thompson School Board has become a fiasco in recent years. Sides are split, partisan politics and outside influence have become commonplace. Jeff Swanty knows how to work on a successful board peaceably. Three of his children are products of the Thompson Public Schools and now his grandchildren attend. Join Loveland Rotarian Dr. George Stevens at the Loveland Library tomorrow night at 6:30pm in the Gertrude Scott Room for the first film in the Black History Film Series.

He will be hosting a showing of "Selma" which chronicles Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s campaign to secure equal voting rights via an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, in 1965.

A discussion with Dr. George Stevens about his experience in the civil rights movement will accompany the film.

Thompson School District athletic fees open for discussion The proposal was straight forward, simple in nature. At the request of Thompson School District athletic directors, the TSD Board of Education was asked last week if the family cap for athletic participation fees — set currently at $325 — could be eliminated.
