Never underestimate the power of a good hike.

Also, never underestimate your own power.

I know it's frustrating when your body attacks itself and you feel like power (among other things, like consistency) is beyond your reach.

Consider also: that same body is working to heal itself.

Give it every chance for success and find some movement today.

Mid week stress check!

Up and Up is all about advancing your life via movement, nutrition, and mindset. If you're experiencing anxiety symptoms such as these, especially consistently...

✨ you're basically already running a marathon. So we've got to change the way you move.
✨ you're less likely to engage in good eating habits, especially if they seem daunting, unrealistic, or lacking sustainability. (I can definitely help with those things, by the way! 🙋🏼‍♀️)
✨ it's hard to believe true things or even make goals when you're in an anxiety trap. Having someone outside of yourself help you out is monumental.

Try this: lay on the floor, chins touching the ground, knees bent, big toes touching and reach your arms out in front (child's pose). Relax your shoulders down, breathe deeply in and out. Give it a shot for at least thirty seconds and work your way up.

Impossible to do for any reason? Get away from your work station to a quiet and as private space as possible. Take three big breaths in and out. Then, gently tap right above your eyebrows, starting in the middle. Work your way out and down to your cheek bones.

And remember, it--whatever is--can get better. 🤍

I know it's April Fool's Day, but you'll find no pranks here, today. It's also the start of my birth month, so what better time than to share a little about myself?

I'm Robin and I love the color sage. ✌🏻

My family consists of one wonderful husband and one magnificent pup. We have plans of future expansion. Stay tuned. 🧐

I have two autoimmune diseases. I was diagnosed with my first around the glorious time of middle school. 🎉

I'm slightly tech deficient, so running this Instagram is interesting. Message me with your tips and tricks and what you want to see. I welcome the help. 🙏🏻

I think a lot about the theme surrounding the Jesse Owens quote…good in the world. 🦸

I believe that a good God created a good world, sent his son who showed how to live in the good way he intended, is putting the world back together, and asks us to join in. 🏘️

That's partially what led to Up & Up Wellness, this belief that there is good and it's getting better, and this desire to put good into the world and in some small way leave it better than I found it, leave each person better than I found them…and especially my autoimmune friends: to help you believe you can live a better, stronger, always moving up and up life. 🤍

I'm feeling that I'm wearing my age and then some today. Seeing it all over my face is how I know collagen isn't some magic elixir…but sleep honestly kind of is!

Every now and again I stay up too late and it's hardly ever worth it and not just because my younger self infringes on my idea of how I'll embrace aging. Wearing it on my face is one thing, carrying it in my joints: quite another. 

If I had to pick one tool to have in my autoimmune healing toolbox, I think it would be sleep. But also don't ask me to pick just one. 😂😂

Sleep is when your body heals. You can make all the right moves with your diet and supplements, but if you don't prioritize sleep, those things will only get you so far. 

Especially if you are battling autoimmune thyroid or psoriatic arthritis (🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️), a consistent sleep schedule is key…
🔑 bed and wake at the same time (or within 45 minutes of) every night and morning. If you're in a sleep deficit, reach out. There's a method to correct that madness!
🔑 keep your bed for sleeping or intimacy only. This can include bedtime reading, but for your brain's sake, keep that read a bedtime read. You'll be surprised how much that helps signal your brain to calm down and enter rest!
🔑 make your bedroom a retreat: calm colors, calm lighting, and prioritize investing in a good mattress and bedding that you can't wait to get to. 

And finally: give yourself some grace and a self hug when you don't stick with your best laid plans. You're human. Aging and other fun happens.

Regular person's breakfast sandwich…😂

I'm not a food stager or photographer, still yum. 

And a great example of stupid easy. Easy + delicious = winning. 

There are a lot of voices (mostly for marketing) touting the best or most important meal of the day...this principle will treat you well: eat when you're hungry. 

(Aside from reasons or seasons of intermittent or extended fasting…which are also stellar tools in your toolbox.)

I generally have more energy and vitality if I eat within an hour-ish of waking. 

Deets on this beauty:

❄️ toasted Paleo bread (this one is from Whole Foods)

❄️ secret sauce (stay tuned😉)

❄️ "fried" egg…on a non stick skillet, no oil. Sometimes I scramble them and sometimes they come out relatively picture perfect…this folded in on itself...no cares do I give, it tastes just the same. 😂

❄️ sliced avocado

❄️ gluten free all purpose seasoning (salt, black pepper, garlic are the main attractions there)

❄️ hot sauce!

The best part is, even on my worst and slowest days, it takes five minutes. Five. Minutes. 

So, test yourself to five delicious minutes one day this week, take deep breaths, and visualize what feeling and being up and up would look like...how kicking your chronic condition or autoimmune disease in the teeth could manifest. Believing brings you closer to seeing.

Snowed in means cuddles. All the cuddles.

We may venture outdoors for another winter hike...orrrrr, we may do an 80's walking vid inside. 😂

Or Just Dance on the Wii. Flashin' it back this winter wonderland Friday. 👏🏻👏🏻

Perhaps both of those, or similar movement, sound overwhelming to you.

How's your mid week going?

It's super rainy in my corner of the universe, perfect for this chicken soup.

Confession: sometimes I don't have celery, so I do random other veggies. Keeps me on my toes. 😅

Not pictured: the secret ingredient...butter! Not a ton, maybe 2 tablespoons (hi, I don't measure, sorry 👋🏻🤦🏼‍♀️).
To your preference, really.

Note on that, I'm nearly a decade into this thang (which is wiiiiiild) and nearly into remission (ohmigosh. I found out yesterday. Brb. I'm crying) and can tolerate grass fed organic butter.
You can always use goat butter! Or an AIP or Paleo substitute (looking at you, Whole Foods).
Or, no butter at all.

Also. Double it. Triple it.
Freezing is your forever friend and is in your corner when your well laid plans stab you in the back. 😂

And, so am I.
