A great time was had by all at our 55th Annual Dinner Meeting! We were treated to an excellent program presentation by Saratoga National Historic Park Interpretive Ranger and Park Historian Eric H. Schnitzer. A special thank you to our Hospitality Chairwoman, Nicole Richmond and her committee for organizing this memorable event!👏🏻👏🏻

📣 Join us in front of Colonie Town Hall (534 Loudon Rd, Latham) Wed, May 20 at 10 AM to pay our respects as these American heroes pass through our town! The procession will leave the NYS Museum at 10am and drive north on Route 9, pass through Colonie on the way to Lake George.

Tomorrow, we have the solemn honor of witnessing the “Repose of the Fallen” motorcade as the remains of Revolutionary War soldiers make their final journey.

The dignified procession will include:
New York State Police es**rt
Nine historic Korean War & Vietnam-era military trucks
Members of the NY-Penn Military Vehicle Collectors Club
Patriot Guard Riders

This is a rare and historic moment. Come stand together as a community to offer a respectful farewell to these brave soldiers who helped secure our freedom.

The third Saturday in May is Armed Forces Day. We share our unending appreciation for the proud patriots who answer the call to serve, taking the sacred oath to defend our Constitution. The brave members of our Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Space Force, Coast Guard, and National Guard and Reserve forces represent the best of our Nation. Today and every day, we honor their immeasurable service on behalf of our grateful Nation.

The Spark That Ignited a Nation 🕯️
250 years ago today—May 15, 1776—the course of history changed forever.
While we often look to July for the birth of our independence, the "spark" was struck weeks earlier. In Virginia, bold leaders took a definitive stand, resolving to draft a Declaration of Rights and instructing their delegates to propose independence for all thirteen colonies.
This was the moment the dream of a new nation moved from quiet whispers to a resounding call for liberty. It provided the blueprint for the freedoms we cherish today and paved the way for the monumental events that would soon unfold across the colonies, from the halls of Williamsburg to the front lines here in New York.
As we look toward our own local celebrations and the legacy of the families who built this community, let us remember the courage it took to imagine a future of independence.

Over 100 Revolutionary War soldiers are buried right here in Colonie! 🇺🇸 To gear up for America’s 250th anniversary, the CHS 250 Committee is on a mission to locate and honor these local heroes. 🎖️📜

A face from the Revolutionary War has been brought back to life.

Created by forensic artist Jenny Kenyon, this reconstruction honors one of more than 40 soldiers whose disturbed graves were carefully recovered and studied at the New York State Museum after their discovery in 2019. Research suggests these young soldiers died in 1776 at a makeshift hospital in Lake George after contracting smallpox or other disease while serving in the American Revolution.

The Museum will be part of a dignified transfer on May 20, 2026 and the soldiers will be further honored during a public reinterment ceremony at Lake George Battlefield Park on May 22, 2026.
