Yoga Nidra 8pm PT TONIGHT - Friday. Spread the word to your tired, grieving overwhelmed Angelenos. To those who have lost their homes. To those who are still evacuated waiting to return. To the first responders and their families. To the volunteers and community organizers who have been working tirelessly but are so tired. To those whose children’s schools burned. To the service workers whose employers’ homes burned. To the small business owners. To the uninsured and underinsured. To the parents of small children trying to keep it together. To this whole beautiful city - our hearts are so heavy. Let’s rest. Let’s rest to rebuild our connection to safety within. And then let’s rebuild our beautiful city. 🙏🏼❤️

Donation is not mandatory - and I’m open to suggestions as to where to donate the proceeds. I have some ideas but please feel free to drop suggestions in the comments.

Class will be recorded and replay will be sent out and available for download for my email list folk.

I love you LA. ILYSM. ❤️

In case you didn’t notice - I am officially back on IG. I motivated myself, after 2 years of only showing up on stories, by doing a 30 days of posting challenge w . While I am absolutely not posting every day, I got out of my weird freeze response - and that’s something.

So my post today is quick and simple - just want to express gratitude for getting the chance to have a little adventure up to Ojai over the weekend, wander around the Holiday Market and the Farmer’s Market, hang with my buddies, and catch Bill Burr on 3pm day date with Josh.

I drove up alone, listening to mantra and random songs I purchased from iTunes circa 2011 (a legit emotional time capsule) and had a leisurely lunch with and Nina - and it was the intellectual, spiritual, and comedic inspiration I needed on a soul level. There might be a podcast coming. 🫣It’s actually a pretty great idea and wow do we have a lot to say. We’ll see.

In the more immediate future, I want to start showing up here with more of the nuanced perspective I’ve worked hard to develop over the last 15 years in the yoga/wellness/spiritual space…I think it might be helpful and I can’t just keep it to myself anymore.🤷🏼‍♀️

And the 3pm Bill Burr show was Josh’s and my 2nd date since Leela was born …IN 14 MONTHS. Our phones got locked up in those little bags so we couldn’t take any pictures but we got a couple Gen Z style blurry selfies.

Sometimes I’m all about moving past fear. Not today. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Today, I hiked up to a cave I’ve been to many times - but it’s been a while.

This beautiful sandstone cave is about 5 minutes from my house and is part of a vast open expanse of rolling hills, on the northwest boundary of the land where the Tongva and the Chumash lived for 8,000 years.

I usually hike here with Josh, but today I’m alone. (I have cell service mom, settle down.)

Since my last visit - a new feature has been added: a well-anchored metal rope 🪢 that you can use to climb about 75 feet up into the cave.

I’m writing this while sitting next to the bottom of the metal rope. I’ve never climbed up into the cave - it’s a steep climb and I almost never wear hiking boots🥾 to this trail.

So I’m sitting here ….wanting so badly to climb up into the cave for the first time - but I’m too afraid.

This cave feels like it holds the divine feminine spirit of the land. It feels like I’m on sacred terrain. It feels like if I go in, there’s no telling what comes next. It kind of reminds me of birth. 😬

And to be honest, I’m just not ready for the unpredictability of another divine feminine portal of initiation. So I’m just sitting here - witnessing my fear. Not interested in moving past it today.

Next time I’ll wear my hiking boots. I’ll wear gloves🧤to protect my hands from being sliced by the metal rope. Next time I’ll come prepared.

I’m a big fan of ‘feeling the fear and doing it anyway.’ Hell, that’s what anchored my decision to have a baby. Fear cannot prevent us from taking the necessary risks that expand our capacity to live and love and grow.

AND ALSO - we can’t underestimate the importance of foresight and setting yourself up for success when you meet your fears.

It’s okay to let yourself feel the fear, take a beat, prepare yourself skillfully for the experience - and circle back another day. 👊🏼❤️

It’s not being ‘fear based.’ It’s being self-aware, self-compassionate, and responsible. 🫶🏼

I got this email from a Human Design client - and THIS is why I do what I do. To help create the kind of freeing clarity that allows you to feel whole - just as you are. 👊🏼❤️The kind of clarity that gives you permission to embrace (or find your way back to) your natural way of being. That natural way of being that maybe you felt tapped into as a child - but then gradually learned to suppress as you grew older. The wholeness that allows you to rest with ease in the knowing that you are enough. That you are worthy. That there’s nothing to prove.

The best part about this email is that it came from the same person I posted about in my stories last week (second slide) who was a total Human Design skeptic.

Honestly, I get the skepticism. It’s weird - but I’ve been testing it out for nearly 5 full years and it’s legit. Excited to share more with you soon. 🙏🏼

Ootd ✌🏼 Leela required coziness for our sunset stroll, and I was more than happy to oblige. (But let’s not pretend I didn’t wear my robe out for walks before she was born 🫣. A fashionista I am not.)

Also, I cannot believe how many people signed up for The Magical Month of Meditation today!

It starts tomorrow (Wednesday), but it’s not too late to join. It’s going to be a lovely time. Meditation and Yoga Nidra to help you rest and destress. 2 live classes a week (on Zoom). A great group of people. 🫶🏼

Happy birthday to my Mummy!! I wanted to post this hours ago - but WOW it’s been a tough day. Usually Leela goes to sleep so easily - not tonight…screaming and crying for nearly two hours past her bedtime.🫠 I’ve only been a mother for 14 months, but I have gained such a profound admiration and appreciation for my mother’s patience, presence, and unconditional love. I know I have so many more tough days ahead that challenge me in ways I cannot even imagine - and it is my deepest wish that I can show up with as much grace and love as my mother gave to me. ❤️

Hey did you know I have a free sleep meditation on with 💥over 1m💥 plays?

I’m kind of a Human Ambien 🤗 Probably because I’ve dealt with insomnia most of my life - and sleep meditations always made more anxious. So I made the most reassuring, soothing sleep meditation I always wanted - but could never find.

I recorded it in 2020 ahead of being featured on Good Morning America for my work with sleep and Yoga Nidra. I wanted to have one of those grown-up professional looking clicky boxes on my website with a free gift to give people if they went to my website and signed up for my email list. This meditation was the free gift! I got something like 10 new subscribers from the feature 😂

Anyway, let me know if it helps! ❤️

Read caption ⬇️ Those of you who share my politics, I’m just as devastated as you are. But I’m not nearly as shocked as I was in 2016. And I’m sure as s**t not going to spend 4 more years doom scrolling and getting wound up about everything 47 says on Twitter at 2am.

We know his playbook. What’s ours going to be? How are we going to cope? How are we going to meet this moment? Are we going to take the bait and get sucked into the unproductive chaos and the misogynistic, xenophobic vitriol?

Personally - I will not take that path again.

And I would love to help you choose a different path too. I will do my level best these next 4 years to be a port in the storm for you. A port of peace and practice. 💙

To start, join me and for a Month of Meditation, starting next Wednesday. An invitation to rest - and rise. An invitation to strengthen your capacity for resiliency. To be the person your children need you to be.

8 recorded classes. Spiritual community. Meditation. Yoga Nidra.

Sign up at the link in my bio.

If you can’t afford it, DM or email me. I got you. ❤️ (But please only if you REALLY can’t afford it, I got a baby and a s**t ton of bills.✌🏼)

Leela’s first Election Day! 💙 I got this Grateful Dead shirt in 2016…really didn’t think it would still be relevant in 2024, but here we are. (Make America Grateful Again✌🏼)

Keeping my fingers crossed that we move forward as a country and remember what unites us.
