📝I’m so grateful that this list for the Dirty Dozen is published. I feel it’s so important to know what we’re eating, and what we're feeding our kids.
🙌🏼It’s a great guide to buying organic, and not over spending on produce that isn’t necessary to buy organic.

🌿Do your kids have a favorite herb, or spice they cook with yet? It does take the kids some time to get used to new flavors, and the vast variety of herbs and spices.
🍲It took my youngest son longer to try new things, but Brody, my oldest, is really open to trying all types of foods.
🥵He really loves spicy food. He’s been exploring, and loving the taste of food from India.
🌶Both herbs, and spices are derived from a plant, but they come from different parts of the plant.
🙌🏼I use a variety of herbs and spices on a daily basis to add, and enhance the flavors of what I’m cooking.

🧁Are your kids having baking fails? This could be an easy fix, by maybe just adjusting the oven temperature. These “5 Tips to Become a Better Baker” are essential basics to know when baking.
👩🏻🍳No one wants a cooking/baking fail. It takes time to plan, measure, cook, wait, and to then have it bomb is a terrible feeling. I can’t tell you how many times this has happened to me. 🤦🏻♀️
🧐Just know this is part of the process, and the kids will improve even if the recipe didn’t work out.
🙌🏼I feel I’ve learned more from a kitchen fails, then from an easy success. I think this is because I become an investigator, and I try to figure out what I did wrong. I learn a lot just from the research.

🙌🏼Are your kids familiar with the term "fond"? I'm pretty sure they haven't heard this term, and most adults that cook have never heard this either.
👩🏻🍳It's a popular term used in a professional kitchen. Fond is like little nuggets of gold, and it should never be washed away. It adds amazing flavor to sauces, gravies, and soups.
😃Next time you’re cooking with the kids, make a pan sauce with them.
❇️Making the most of fond with a pan sauce.
-Season, and sauté a chicken breast in a skillet, on med-high heat. About 7 minutes per side. Remove chicken, and set aside.
-Reduce heat to medium, add aromatics like garlic, shallots, onions, or spices. Then, add 1 cup of chicken broth (or white wine for the adults 😉)
-Next with a wooden spoon, scrape the bits from the bottom of the pan, and let the liquid reduce until thickening by about ⅓. About 5-6 minutes.
-Now, add a 1 tablespoons of butter, and season with favorite herbs, spics, salt & pepper, lemon juice. Let the kids get creative, and choose what they like.
-Plate the chicken, and spoon the sauce over the chicken.

👨🏼🍳Do your kids have a designated space in the kitchen? It’s important for them to have one place where they prep their ingredients. This can really keep them focused, and not all over the place.
🌪I had to learn this the hard way with my boys. To this day I still call my 12 year old the “Tornado chef”. He is usually all over the kitchen with at least 5 different places set up. I just have to remind him, and move him over to the sink each time.
🙏🏼Hopefully one day this will become a good habit for him.

🎃 I think most kids look forward to Halloween. It’s filled with so much fun, crazy food, and lots of sweet treats.
👻We created this Spooky Noodle Bowl filled with delicious ingredients, although it may not look delish. Both of my boys, and I came up with the ingredients in this bowl. The ghosts were a bit of a challenge we couldn’t come up with what to use. Then, it was an ah-ha moment, and I felt like a “mummy”, then yes of course firm tofu. It worked great for our little ghosts.
🙌🏼If you plan to make these, I suggest using vegetable oil. We used olive oil, and the ghosts look a little yellow, but still super cute.
😋It’s made with all edible ingredients, and tastes so good.
✴️What’s in this bowl:
⚫️Black rice noodles, tossed with butter, garlic salt & pepper
🐛Green beans steamed, and string cheese strips
👻Tofu cut into ghosts, seasoned, and pan sautéed
👁Mozzarella balls for the eye balls, with black olives sliced for the eyes
