Not all capital raises are bad!
Look at SGQ.
Everyone sees a capital raise and immediately screams dilution. But let’s zoom in on what really happened at SGQ.
They raised $5m at 3.8c—right at the market. No discount.
Why? Because they’d already squared away the raise. That $5m was locked. Done. Sorted.
So why even bother with a placement?
Because someone strategic wanted in. And they wanted size.
You can’t buy that much stock on market without mooning the price. So a placement was the only clean way in. They structured it at market, no discount, no free lunch.
This isn’t desperation. This is strength.
When whales knock on the door, companies let them in through placements. It’s not bearish—it’s a sign someone big wants exposure and believes in the upside.
Lesson: Don’t just see “capital raise” and panic. Look who is coming in and how it’s structured.
