Last month was Shivaratri… the Great Night of Shiva. A time devoted to conscious dissolution. To undoing.

Across the Hindu yogic tradition, it is the night when the energy associated with Shiva - the aspect of existence that dissolves form so renewal can occur - is said to be especially present.

It is less a celebration in the ordinary sense and more a doorway.
A moment to loosen the identities we carry.
To let old patterns fall away. To sit in the stillness where endings quietly become beginnings.

And only days later, the Fire Horse stepped onto the field. It has been 60 years since we last saw it.

Fire exposes. It does not allow what is hidden to remain hidden for long. It burns off residue. It also consumes carelessly if not contained.

The Horse does not hesitate. It moves.
Forward force. Exposed. Alive. Driven by instinct. Magnetic in presence. Carrying both grace and volatility.

Fire Horse energy does not fit quietly into existing structures. It strains against them. It can look like rebellion. It can also look like awakening.

Then, on the other side of the world, there is Teotihuacán.

A city built for awakening.
Stone meeting sky. An avenue stretched like a spine between worlds.

Identity thins there. Stories lose volume. What is constructed begins to crack.

The pyramids do not instruct. They reveal.
What is steady steadies. What is fragile shows itself.

It is deliberate undoing. Walking until the mind quiets. Standing until what is true steps forward.

Teotihuacán can feel like disorientation. It can also be remembering.

I was blessed to spend Shivaratri at Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu, Nepal… one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Shiva, Lord of all beings. A meeting point of life, death, and liberation. A force that dissolves illusion and returns everything to its source.

Next, I greeted the Fire Horse energy in Chitwan National Park, also in Nepal.

Here, the jungle breathes low and steady. Elephant grass taller than memory. River mist rising at dawn. Rhino moving through heat and shadow.

This is not mountain fire. It is earth fire.
Primal. Instinctual. Unapologetically alive.

And if that is not enough… there is Teotihuacán.

If Pashupatinath is fire on the river, and Chitwan is fire in the body, then Teotihuacán during Day of the Dead is fire in memory.

Ancient pyramids rising from volcanic earth.
Marigold petals laid like pathways for the unseen.
Candles flickering against stone older than empires.

Here, death is not an ending. It is invitation. Death of what is no longer needed, followed by a willingness to allow what comes next.

To stand on the Avenue of the Dead in November is to feel the Fire Horse turn luminous. Not consuming, but illuminating. Carrying you between worlds.

Magnetic and mythic. Sacred and eternal.

And in November, at Teotihuacán, this fire becomes shared ground.
Where memory, body, and river meet again.

It’s strange sometimes… the way a small book can ripple through a life.
Many lives.
My life.

The Four Agreements has been doing that for decades.

Many years ago, my path crossed with don Miguel Ruiz, and my life became deeply connected with the wisdom behind The Four Agreements.

I wasn’t reading the book from a distance.
I was inside the world it came from.

The book I had read - and honestly dismissed as “too simple” - took on a deeper, more profound meaning.

Next week I’ll be in conversation with Hope Springs Institute about this little book that has travelled so far.

Not a teaching.
More like a remembering and exploration.

The agreements themselves are simple.
Living them… that’s where the real journey begins.

One thing I’ve learned is that life doesn’t happen to us.

It doesn’t really happen for us either.
And it doesn’t move through us the way we’re often taught to believe.

We are the life that moves everything.

What we as humans experience as “things happening in our lives” is how life appears through what we resist, what we allow, and what we’re willing or unwilling to see.

Nothing arrived in order to teach me something.
Nothing was sent as a test.

And yet, something was learned.
Something was endured.
And everything changed.

Not because life was instructing me, but because the way life was moving as me changed.

From that shift, understanding came.
From that shift, choice changed.
From that shift, everything else followed.

That distinction matters more than it might seem.

✨ RETURNING. REBORN. ✨

I’ve started this post so many times…
How do you return after disappearing?

How do you put words to a journey that has unraveled and remade you in ways you never imagined?

How do you describe a silence that held everything - loss, illness, transformation?

Let’s just say life took me apart.
Not gently. Not kindly. But completely.

Piece by piece, everything I thought was me or mine -
my health,
my work,
my sense of belonging,
even my personality… my way of being,
was stripped away.

And yet, here I am.
Not the same.
Not even close.

I’ve walked through fire,
through loss,
through the kind of darkness that makes you question everything…
including whether you’ll ever find your way back.

I’ve faced battles that stole my body, my mind, my ability to do the work I love.

I’ve stood at the feet of masters from wisdom traditions across the world -
many of whom called me their equal,
who saw something in me I wasn’t sure I could claim.

And through it all, something happened.
I became.

This time wasn’t unfair or unfortunate.
It was a divinely orchestrated opportunity.

Within this challenge, this pain, was a hidden gem…
a gift to be found and unpacked.

It was an initiation.
A metamorphosis.
A homecoming to the being I have always been,
but had forgotten, denied, or even feared.

And that being?
She’s not here to tiptoe back.

She’s here to stand in the fullness of everything she has become,
everything she has always been.
To speak.
To share what she has learned.
To hold up a light for those walking their own path through the illusion.

And to those who are in the depths of their own unraveling:
I see you.
I know the pain, the questions, the feeling that nothing will ever be the same.

You’re right - it won’t be.
And that might just be the most extraordinary thing.

Because what shatters is never the real you.
What burns was never yours to keep.

And when the ashes settle, you will see - there was always something magnificent underneath it all.

Something unbreakable.
Something waiting to rise…
… to Rise In Love.

If you’re in the fire now,
if life is undoing you in ways you didn’t realize you asked for -
know this:

You are not lost.
You are in the making.
And you don’t have to find the way alone.

I see you.
I know this path.
I’m here.
I’m listening.
I’m back.

And I can’t wait to hear from you.
