I used to believe that in order to be successful at something I had to say I was/did only that one thing. What I’ve realized from great mentors and basically living life, and what I hope young people discover, is that it’s OK (better than OK?) to love a variety things and be interested in the world in as many ways as lights us up.

To that end, you can catch me guest-starring on NCIS tonight at 9 PM!

What a wonderful cast, crew, casting office, and experience. Hope you enjoy! -Elizabeth

So many paths to a correct answer means so many great question asked along the way💫.

Also, with great questions comes the knowledge that learning + innovating doesn’t stop at the ⭐️.

Maybe that’s just the beginning.

As we approach the beginning of a fresh school year (excited!), a reminder of what a love of learning can ignite.

I’m so lucky and always inspired to be a small part of my students’ journeys. 💫

So true! Big goals require big sleep. Sounds counterintuitive, but you’ll be more efficient, focused, and enthusiastic about what you’re learning ⭐️

And, as you’re prepping for finals and APs this month: small consistent (daily) actions will create space for the whole sleep thing to happen 🙌

Always rooting for you!

Working with so many amazing middle and high school students and their families over the years has given me a wealth of beautiful ideas I use to parent these two little people. I’m such a lucky mama, and I’m so blessed have such incredible families to learn from too!

How does an academic coach and Latin tutor spend her holiday weekend? By attending via Zoom the conference, The Science of Teaching, in San Francisco.

What we’re digging into from the latest research and phDs:

1. Goal setting focused on mastery > performance
2. Spaced learning best practices
5. How retrieval practice strengthens neural connections
6. When to practice (so good!)
7. Rigor vs load
8. What we learn < why we learn < how we use it in our lives and in the future.

The grades are a byproduct💫

6 ways you can ask paradigm changing questions in class:
1. I wonder if
2. What if we
3. Could that be because
4. That reminds me of
5. Does that connect with
6. If we tried it this way

Rooting for you! Elizabeth

While #1 and #2 are super important for academic success, I would posit to say that #3-5 are the stuff of a purposeful school experience, deeper learning, and what this thing called life is all about.

In other words, #3-5 make the first two much easier to say yes to and accomplish.

Thank you, but actually, it’s all your incredible kiddo’s hard work. Truly! 🙌💯
What I did, and what I do my level best to do every day, is to help inspire the motivation, purpose, resilience, and joy for learning that helps teens flourish in school to become the impactful and *good* young adults they are uniquely meant to be. 💫
