For many Polynesian communities, music is more than just an art form—it is a way of life. Traditional melodies, rhythms, and chants have been passed down through generations, carrying the voices of our ancestors and preserving our history. However, with modernization, many of these traditions risk being lost. PMA was established to ensure that these sounds continue to thrive and inspire future generations. By integrating music education with cultural storytelling, PMA empowers students to become not only skilled musicians but also cultural ambassadors who carry forward the legacy of Polynesian music. At the heart of Pasifika Music Academy is the enduring legacy of Fa’anana Jerome Grey, a legendary figure in Polynesian music whose influence continues to inspire musicians worldwide. Fa’anana Jerome Grey is best known for his iconic song “We Are Samoa,” a powerful anthem that has become a symbol of Samoan identity and unity. His music embodies the spirit of the Pacific, blending traditional elements with contemporary sounds to create a unique and timeless style. Through his songs, Grey not only entertained but also educated, using his platform to celebrate Polynesian heritage and advocate for cultural preservation. His lifelong dedication to music and culture serves as the foundation for PMA. Inspired by his passion, the academy was established to continue his mission—educating and empowering young musicians through the vibrant traditions of Polynesian music. PMA honors his work by incorporating his songs, values, and teachings into its curriculum, ensuring that students understand the power of music in shaping identity and community. Our Mission:

Tinifuloa Grey
Cultural Consultant, Music Educator, Performer, Producer, Songwriter, and Multi-Instrumentalist

Tinifuloa Grey comes from a proud musical legacy deeply rooted in Polynesian culture. As the grandson of a pioneering Samoan musician, the son of legendary Samoan folk artist Jerome Grey, and the brother of Taumata Grey from the renowned band Common Kings, Tinifuloa’s family has made a lasting impact on Polynesian music. He is honored to carry that legacy forward while inspiring the next generation, including his own children, who continue their tradition of cultural excellence. Growing up in Samoa and Hawaii and later immersing himself in the Los Angeles music industry, Tinifuloa has spent over 30 years as a professional musician, songwriter, and producer. A versatile multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, he specializes in guitar, ukulele, bass, and percussion. His deep understanding of Polynesian music, combined with his talent for blending traditional sounds with contemporary styles, has defined his career as both a performer and educator. As the founder of FAIVA, a Polynesian acoustic trio, Tinifuloa works to revive indigenous music and inspire youth to connect with their heritage. FAIVA’s debut single, Valovalo Mai, earned a nomination for "Best International Pacific Artist" at the 2023 Pacific Music Awards and continues to captivate global audiences with its celebration of Polynesian traditions. In addition to performing, Tinifuloa produces recordings and live shows that honor Polynesian music and storytelling. In 2024, Tinifuloa joined Disney as the cultural consultant and music director for The Enchanted Serenaders, a Polynesian ensemble showcasing the vibrant traditions of the Pacific for international audiences. Now, with decades of experience in the music industry, Tinifuloa is dedicated to sharing his knowledge and passion with the next generation of musicians. Whether teaching ukulele, Polynesian drumming, or songwriting, his mission is to help others find their voice and connect with the heart of Polynesian culture. Through his work as a cultural consultant, performer, and educator, Tinifuloa Grey is keeping the rhythm of Polynesian music alive for generations to come.

Join the Grey Family for a special day of golf, music, and community as we honor the legacy of legendary Pacific Island musician Jerome Grey.
