The film "La Mission" starring Benjamin Bratt was released in 2009. The film illustrates how a father copes with the realization that his son is gay, all while being part of a Lowrider club and with a history of being overly compensating of his heterosexual orientation. This film adeptly incorporated lowriders while addressing an important issue in the Mexican community that is still seen as taboo.
