📖 The main takeaway is that a complex spelling system like English needs to be taught with a lot of care. Let’s work with the palatable 44 phonemes in the English language and a systematic way to teach the the writing system that corresponds with them. Is teaching how to read and write English more complex than some other similar languages? Sure. Is it impossible or unattainable? Absolutely not. But we need to work with how the brain learns to read. 👍 (McGuinness, MIT Press, 2006)

🖇️ Are you “clipping” your sounds correctly? ✂️ You may be adding an ‘uh’ sound at the end of letters like b, c, d, and g which can cause confusion when reading and writing.
