I took Fritz to see Steely Dan last night (he hadn’t seen them live) and another little band called The Eagles were headliners. Anyway, I think the last time I saw SD was in the early 2000’s and Donald Fagen has still put together an amazing band even without Mr. Becker. We enjoyed them.
I haven’t seen the Eagles since the mid 70’s when they opened weirdly enough for Yes at the Sportatorium in So FL , I know weird bill. Wow I say. Even though there’s only Don Henley from the original band they paid deep tribute to that sound. Playing everything chronologically.

Vince Gill is a great edition to that band and he did beautiful justice to many songs and there was a guitarist who looks just like Don Felder playing Don Felder guitar and was amazing. His name is Steuwart Smith. I’m sure some of you here know him but he was new to me but man…he was good. Deacon Frey, Glens son sang his dad’s songs. JD Souther came out and sang New Kid in Town and Best of My Love and they also played Heartache Tonight which is his.
Joe Walsh was so much fun and rocked three or four of his solo works and of course the Hotel California solo with he and Steuwart was perfect. People, this was a guitar extravaganza! Their show was reverent and friendly and well put together of course. It was the first show of their final tour. You could hear the entire Forum singing along with every song which was endearing. All and all a great night at a rock concert well….parking and driving were…not so great but once inside it was worth that hassle.
I know some people despise them and their reputation as jerks to each other has been widely reported but these songwriters are amazing despite it all and besides…I was never in a room with them nor do I know them. Hahaha I have no idea why I wrote this long thing. Hahaha
