We wanted to recap some of 180DC’s highlights from fall quarter! We were so glad to have everyone back in person this past quarter, which allowed us to host a number of in-person and virtual events. To begin, we hosted our first in-person social since March 2020, kicking things off with a picnic and potluck. Next up, 180DC hosted consultants from McKinsey, EY, & Dalberg for our Social Sector Consulting Panel. Additionally, we hosted our first cross-club volunteering event with , where 180 and LBSA members assembled care packages for the unhoused community in Los Angeles. We are also very lucky to have an amazing group of alumni who came to our alumni social this quarter! Next up, 180 members celebrated the holidays with a wonderful Friendsgiving celebration, we are so thankful for all of our members! Lastly, we wrapped up the quarter with pizookies to celebrate all of our committee members, we couldn’t do it without you! 💚

Last but not least, we have Alekhya Sure, our third panelist! Alekhya is a quantitative creative – which makes consulting the ideal space for tapping into her love for data-optimized processes and colorful, story-driven narratives. Currently, she is a Consultant at Dalberg Advisors, an international development strategy firm. During her time at Dalberg, she has worked on nutrition and food strategies, designed gender advocacy networks, and written about the implications of COVID-19 on small enterprises globally. Prior to Dalberg, Alekhya worked at Accenture in the Finance & Risk practice. In addition to her banking projects, she volunteered her time across Accenture’s 3 social impact spaces. She supported the design of initiatives, such as Artificial Intelligence for Good, with the Nonprofit practice; conducted research on clean energy for Development practice clients; and managed an Accenture grant to a local non-profit.

The next panelist for our Social Sector Consulting Panel is Angela Basi! Angela brings over two decades of experience serving California’s government and public sector and some of the world’s leading companies in the technology, life sciences, healthcare and aerospace and defense sectors. She has deep experience helping clients navigate the rapidly changing regulatory environment and assessing, managing and mitigating risks. She is committed to building strong relationships with community, government and business leaders across Sacramento. Angela works with private and public sector organizations to help them navigate new challenges and better meet the needs of the Californians they serve.

Ever wonder how social impact intersects with consulting in the real world? Join 180DC at UCLA at our first event of the year: the Social Sector Consulting Panel, happening November 1st from 6-7pm on Zoom! We will be joined by consultants from top firms that are solving society’s greatest challenges. 

Leading up to our event, we will be introducing our panelists, beginning with Jorg Schubert! Jorg Schubert is a Senior Partner, based out of Dubai, who is responsible for McKinsey’s global Economic Development Service Line. Jorg has led more than 150 projects in the area of economic development. Sample projects include national competitiveness and growth strategies, sector roadmaps, and specific free zone strategies. Jorg holds a PhD in Constitutional Law from Bayreuth University, Germany. He also has a Masters Degree in Law and Economics from Bayreuth University, and a Masters degree in International Economic Law from Warwick University, UK.
