Laura Henry, acting teacher and director, is back in New York City In 2006. Laura has been teaching the Meisner technique since 1985.

THE LAURA HENRY ACTING STUDIO offers a superior training program for beginning and advanced actors. Founded in 1992 by Laura Henry, the studio is dedicated to developing in the actor a mastery of emotional, physical and vocal technique. id’s First Award for best short film 2007 ages 8-13. She directed Warp 11 , a tv pilot as well as an instructional video for Soultreemotion. Laura’s theater directing credits in Los Angeles include Shift for Peter Sellars at The LA Theater Festival; At the Matrix: House of Blue Leaves and The Crucible , At The Zephyr: Raft of the Medusa, and The Sonworshipper; At the HBO Theater:The Hypochondriac and The Promise; other Los Angeles productions: Metropolitan Operas, Time Flies, Of Sewage and Sentiment, An Evening with Malcolm Boyd, Jung Gestalt or Buddah, A Life In The Theater, He and She, and The Visit, Regional and NY productions include: The Duchess of Malfi, As Bees In Honey Drown, The 80 Yard Run, Tartuffe, Dancin to Caliope, Chapter two and Smashing Times . Laura was the resident Director for Incline, the Theater Group in Los Angeles for four years during the mid 1990’s . She has directed her graduates’ industry showcase at The Court Theatre in LA every year through 2006, when she began to devote more time to her work at The University of North Carolina School of The Arts. Teacher trained under Katherine Gately,she was a founding faculty member of The Gately/Poole Acting Studio on Theater Row in NYC where she taught for seven years. In 1992 Laura opened her two year conservatory Meisner Training program in Los Angeles. Since 1990 she has worked as a private acting coaching and as a script consultant /doctor for television and Film. Laura was a guest director and acting teacher at The University of North Carolina School of The Arts under the drama dean Gerald Freedman starting in 2004. She moved to being a full time Faculty member from 2008- 2011 She taught junior and senior acting, her audition technique class , beginning Shakespeare and directed the UNCSA graduate showcase bringing it to to Los Angeles and New York. At UNCSA Laura directed Trelawney of The Wells, Balm In Gilead, Ah Wilderness , Picnic, Twelfth Night, Another Part Of The Forest, Loves Labours Lost, You Can’t take It With You and Agnes Of God.
