The amazing team at recently brought a TRUCK of over 600 backpacks to our Skid Row Learning Center! This incredible donation has helped hundreds of students start their school year with a brand new backpack 🎒

They also spent time with the students and brought a bracelet-making activity for a fun and creative afternoon!

🎒 It's back to school season! 🎒

We are so thankful for our corporate partners like DaVita who continue to show up for students experiencing homelessness by providing backpacks and hosting school supply drives.
Each and every backpack with supplies goes directly to a student and ensures they have what they need to focus on learning.

Our student surveys showed that 97.4% of high school students felt that they received the most useful information to prepare for their future from School on Wheels tutoring sessions.

This result is thanks to the amazing volunteer tutors and mentors who continue to show up for students every week! We provide training and resources to all of our volunteers and they provide the impact. Sometimes, all a student needs is access to the right information and someone to guide them through it.

🎒 The annual backpack stuffing event was a huge success! They came together and stuffed an incredible 500 backpacks with supplies and flyers.

🎒Each and every one of those backpacks have been given to a student experiencing homelessness to ensure they start the new school year with everything they need.

On Tuesday, we hosted our back to school event in Ventura and over 100 students were able to get backpacks, books, school supplies, and even some fun toys to prepare for the new school year.

Sage Publications donated 500 backpacks filled with school supplies that were packed by their employees with personal messages for the students.
Ventura County Credit Union hosted a booth and is currently running a backpack and school supply drive at all its branches with all the items being donated to School on Wheels.

Plus special shout out to other backpack and school supplies donors and those who joined us at the event: LinkedIn office in Carpenteria, and Mission Church Ventura, Westside Community Development Corporationsideventura, Ventura County Office of Education.
