Introducing...

Mayra’s love for dance started from the young age of 7 when she learned to dance through music videos and performed for family events and local competitions. In 2001, she started to take professional dance training in ballet, jazz and tap and in 2002 she was a member of the City of Whittier Dance ensemble. After taking time off from dance to pursue other goals, Mayra began training in Oriental dance with Anoush of California and Ahmed Hussien starting in 2013. She was a member of Anoush’s Egyptian Fantasy Dancers from 2013 to 2017. Mayra has performed in Mexico City, Las Vegas, Cancun and Southern California as a soloist. In November 2015, she placed in the top 8 finalists for Maria Shazadi’s Bellydance competition in Mexico City. Mayra was part of the cast for Jillina’s BDEmpower women’s day bellydance video in February 2019. Currently, Mayra studies under Master Instructor Fahtiem and Sonia Ochoa while taking advantage of many other training opportunities available in the Los Angeles area.
