Announcing: Time Matters ver. 0.7

For four and a half years, we have been developing FREE software (it will always be free) intended to be the most complete, accurate, and useful program for Sidereal astrologers in particular, while providing unique information and structure valuable to all astrologers. Time Matters, on its long march to a full version 1.0 complete package, has just been released as version 0.7.

Time Matters was originally created by Mike Nelson and now continued, stabilized, and expanded by Ember Valentine. You are welcome to download and use it. Currently, only a Windows version is available. 0.8 (which now will begin beta testing) will introduce MacOS and Linux versions.

Why you may not want it:
The only zodiac options is Sidereal. It doesn't generate nicely drawn charts but rather data tables. It isn't a finished package.

Why you might want it:
First, it's free (so: why not?). It has more features than I can itemize in this brief space. The basic idea is that it calculates natal (or other individual) charts, Sidereal return charts, and Sidereal solar and lunar ingresses. It displays planets positioned mundanely on the wheel, disclosing exactly how close to angles they are (the mundoscope position is right next to the longitude on the wheel: Please, somebody steal this idea and mainstream it). Extensive user controls on things like orbs, extra features (midpoints, parans, major asteroids and seven trans-Pluto planets, noviens). Multiple coordinate systems simultaneously displayed. Dozens of features in the reports that you have to work with to appreciate (intended to guide your eyes through the chief factors of any chart).

Calculations are more accurate than most programs (I think none are better) and now extend from 10,000 BCE to 3600 CE.

The new 0.7 version has dozens of additions and refinements. One invisible gain is that the entire code base was recrafted to speed the program and make future development easier. In addition to basic solar and lunar returns, eight other types of returns are added for those who want to experiment. 0.7 added parans integrated with the other aspect tables and a novien report to join the Cosmic State report already present.

There's more to be done... much more. A pretty solid path toward 1.0 is laid out. Feel free to get a copy for yourself.

UPDATE ON VISITING SOLUNARS.COM. Visitors now need to register before they can read content. This changes a pattern of the last 18 years during which registration was only necessary in order to post.

Why the change? In recent months, we've been overwhelmed by AI bots aggressively scraping data. While I support free dissemination of our information (it's the whole purpose of the site), this surge in automated traffic has dramatically increased server costs, often exceeding an extra $1,000 per month. I cover all expenses out of pocket (the site is ad-free and participation is free). This increased cost level is unsustainable (unless someone wants to give me a $15K/year raise or grant).

Requiring registration to read site content is one way to curb the bot activity. This requirement may not last forever. I’m actively exploring other solutions. For now, though, this is necessary.

Thank you. Come by to see us at Solunars.com!

EMERGENCY REQUEST FOR DONATIONS.
Membership and participation on Solunars.com is free (and ad-free). I hope you're a regular visitor and enjoy its offerings. - However, right now (August 2025) I need to ask for emergency donations.

Please donate if you can.

NATURE OF THE EMERGENCY: It's an invasion by AI bots scanning the site daily, with excessive traffic from Russia and southeast Asia. This raises visitation rate much higher than allowed, increasing costs. Earlier this year, I blocked 90% of the scanning; but now they're back. My overage costs this month were $1,216.

PERMANENT SOLUTION: I have an action plan. Unfortunately, I waited too long to finish it. I do all the work myself to keep the site running, pay all the bills, and absorb the usual hosting costs. I thought I had more time to implement the somewhat difficult, time-consuming permanent solution. I was wrong.

MY PROMISE: I will get the new solution in place in August. I have to: Otherwise, the 18-year history of Solunars.com probably will not extend past the end of the year. I definitely plan to fight!

If this site has been helpful to you, please donate what you can to help us through this temporary challenge. - Thank you in advance!

Solunars.com web site is temporarily down. We had an attack just over a week ago and I've been working to resecure the site and get it back on line. I'm targeting having it back online sometime this week. - Meanwhile, feel free to post here with questions and discussion of interest to Sidereal Astrology and the works of Cyril Fagan, Donald Bradley (Garth Allen), and their collaborators.

Happy 100th birthday to Donald A. Bradley ("Garth Allen," 1925-1975), one of the two preeminent pioneers of Sidereal Astrology. Here is a page with content honoring him on this occasion.

A significant new release (0.6) of the FREE SIDEREAL ASTROLOGY SOFTWARE "Time Matters" is now available at the link below.

Time Matters has been four years in development and is currently available for Windows computers. Version 0.7 (now being written) will include copies that run on MacOS and Linux.

This program produces natal charts, solar and lunar returns, and solar and lunar ingresses in the Sideral zodiac. Dozens of special features have been added in the current release, with much more coming as the program marches toward its full 1.0 release.

Time Matters is the most mathematically accurate astrology software currently available, originally conceived and crafted by Mike Nelson and now in continuing development by Ember Volkov. The Solunars web forum is crafting and producing this as a gift to students and practitioners of Sidereal astrology.

Feel free to come by (link below) and download a copy.
