So proud of this project! The small business, community-supported loan fund that I developed to benefit the Arroyo S.E.C.O Network of Time Banks just got some big press on Shareable. Two cheers for the Sharing Economy!
LA Time Banks Create Small Business Loan Fund

Among them were that she would never qualify for a small business loan, and that developing relationships w...

It's official folks, the ASNTB has the very first small business community-sustained micro-loan program to serve a time bank! I spent the past year researching and developing the fund and in just 34 days, we raised the matching funds needed to launch in January! The campaign is still on (link below) if you care to invest in the Sharing Economy! And here's a little bit from me about why I believe so deeply in what I do...

You know how much I love to support small business owners - dare I say they hold the key to the new economy? So I'm beyond silly excited to announce the pending launch of my latest project with the Arroyo S.E.C.O Network of Time Banks: Micro-loans ($500-2,000) for small business owners and worker-owned cooperatives that would literally have the door slammed in their faces by big banks.
A little bit goes a long way with this crowd, so please donate! Your tax deductible contribution goes straight into the fund to help someone who does for the love of doing, believes in quality over quantity and wants to make a living on their own terms!
Join the Sharing Economy and help revitalize the community through small, ethical business ♥

Food for Thought on Friday: another reason why doing what you love is so important...the less you love it, the more you work at it...
“I do not particularly like the word 'work.' Human beings are the only animals who have to work, and I think that is the most ridiculous thing in the world. Other animals make their livings by living, but people work like crazy, thinking that they have to in order to stay alive. The bigger the job, the greater the challenge, the more wonderful they think it is. It would be good to give up that way of thinking and live an easy, comfortable life with plenty of free time. I think that the way animals live in the tropics, stepping outside in the morning and evening to see if there is something to eat, and taking a long nap in the afternoon, must be a wonderful life. For human beings, a life of such simplicity would be possible if one worked to produce directly his daily necessities. In such a life, work is not work as people generally think of it, but simply doing what needs to be done.” ― Masanobu Fukuoka, The One-Straw Revolution
And with that in mind, TGIF!!!

Remember these? Though this piece looks at standardized testing and school stress, it's a good reminder of how, as a society, we've accepted stress as a way of life.
“Kids are affected socially and cognitively by pressure, stress and anxiety. The central challenge for young people is learning how to manage their anxiety and stress so they can engage in their lives in a meaningful way and do the things they need to do to gain a sense of self empowerment." (Dr. Richard Vieille)
