This movie "Amrum" is showing at the Laemmle from April 24 to May 21. From Golden Globe Award-winning filmmaker Fatih Akin (In the Fade, Head-On) and lensed by internationally acclaimed cinematographer Karl Winter Lindenlaub, whose stunning visual language captures the beauty of the rugged North Sea island, "Amrum" is a tender coming-of-age tale about the loss of innocence set against the waning days of the Second World War.

On Wednesday, you have the opportunity to join USC MFA playwrights who will present original short plays exploring themes of migration and surveillance inspired by exile, Marta Feuchtwanger's solo ski trip to Northern California on the eve of her fiftieth birthday in January 1941.
As former German nationals, Lion and Marta Feuchtwanger were deemed ‘enemy aliens’ in the 1940’s, despite being refugees of Na**sm.

To mark the 2026 FIFA World Cup’s arrival in North America this summer, the German Film Office is presenting a series called "Breaking Lines”, to celebrate the empowering, unifying force of soccer.
From triumphant stories of teamwork told through the lens of migration, to documentaries on women and q***r people paving the way for inclusivity in the sport - there is a broad selection of movies from which to choose. "Breaking Lines” streams free through July 31 on Goethe on Demand.
